Hi all,

I've put together a noobie (lvl 1) treasure hunter and have a question about digging up chests.

I can get to the location of the chest by using the t-map and UO Auto-map, but whenever I dig anywhere on, or near the coordinates, I get "You can't mine here" messages when using a shovel.

Is that the standard message you get when you've 'missed' the location of the chest and I'm just being impatient?

Or is there a different shovel/tool I should be using (I have the same ones my miner/blacksmith uses)?

If I remember right, you dbl click the the shovel, then click the map with the little target thing, then itll ask "Where would you like to dig for your treasure?" and youll still have the target.

Left click on the treasure map, and select dig. And you will begin digging where you are standing.

Last I remember was shovel, map, ground.

This isn't your Grandpa's UO game anymore.

Yup you don't need to click on the shovel, you just need to have it in your pack. Just left-click on the map, it'll give you the option to open map or dig for treasure.

Damn younguns... I remember having to boat to the islands and back, just to dig a level 2 map.. and avoid pks, with no wandering healers on the island, and no stuck player option.. AND WE LIKED IT!

Actually, I believe Kettlewhistle's and Maddux's techniques both work when digging for treasure, I've been able to dig using either method.
