try shutting off your virus protector/popup blockers ... it helps release memory ... hope that helps ...

What are the specs of your PC? Someone else was mentioning a problem that was a running a fairly outdated rig; like Pentium 2 w/256 Mb of RAM.

You can save all of your macros - just copy the settings folder for UOAssist (if applicable) and the Desktop folder from inside your UO Program Files folder. That will save your desktop layout settings, macros, etc.

Windows ME is infamous for its memory leak bug. It's a known bug that Microsoft never fixed. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,10816,00.asp

So even with 512MB of RAM, your system is probably only operating at the level of efficiency as if it has 128MB. It's particularly noticeable when running games, or apps like Photoshop that hog a lot of RAM.

Heh, guess it's ironic that the issue was given the "highest" priority when the microsoft engineer wrote back, yet the article was dated "July 19, 2001" and it still isn't fixed.
Never did like Windows ME.

Absolutely not! I love Photoshop I teach it exclusively in my web design classes. All that power requires lots of resources, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Re: Problems with new patch

before i upgraded to a new puter i had ME and i was getting the same problem about virtual memory when running ML. I found by shutting off my virus/popup programs it worked smoothly ... (i just had to remember to turn it back on if i left the game and went to the net which i didn't do that often since i was in game most the time and used my other puter for 'surfing') also ML wasn't compatable with ME which at first caused a few of us a headache but they gave us an answer for it (don't remember now what it was though)

Re: Problems with new patch

Might want to check on the virtual memory settings of your rig. Start->Control Panel->System->not sure what tab the "Performance" button is under, but go there.

Youll want to set this to a static value (dont let Windows manage it, it sucks at it ) that is about twice the amount of RAM you have. So there will be 2 boxes and youll put 1000 in each box. 1024 if you want to get technical.

Restart and give it a try. I remember that helping alot when I was running ME.

And the only good thing I have to say about ME is "winipcfg" was so much more user friendly that having to go through the C:/ prompt.
