I have to agree.I am a bit loathe myself to switch to new stuff until its been tested more.I stayed with Win 98 for aeons as the upgrades just never came up to scratch imo.I eventually switched to XP in May this year,and am not ready to switch again .

I got Vista (Home Premium, but it's still Vista) back at the release with a new computer. I downloaded the ML Installer from http://www.uo.com/uoml and just let it patch up from that. For some reason, it wouldn't install from a 9th anny OR a 7th Anny cd.

When you run the installer, though, right-click it and choose to "Run As Administrator" and click through the UAC Dialog.

EDIT: *D'Oh!* I skipped over the fact that this is 64-Bit. I'm running a 32-Bit OS (On a a 64-Bit Processor, believe it or not. Thanks, Dell... ) so I'm not entirely sure if this will work. I think it will install to a Program Files-32 Bit Folder, but I'm not entirely sure.

My rant:

Too much 'Are you sure you want to open the program you double clicked to open?, I mean are you absolutely sure you want to open the program you just openned?'

I have directx 9.0c installed along side with DX10, that is what amazes me.. :S

And for problems with vista, i haven't had any major difficulties since I'm used to Linux, after a little tweaking everything works KR is the first game I haven't got working at all..

I've got Vista Home Premium (32-bit) and didn 't ahve any problems, and I really didn't notice any lag in any of the games...of course, that could be the NVIDIA 8800 GTX *salivates* best ...computer upgrade... ever, I don't even think about it, just turn all settings on any game/app to maximum and watch the pretty colors.

KR (both beta and production) has worked fine for me under Vista Business Edition (which doesn't have all the multimedia enhancements by default, so if anyone has trouble, it should be me!)

There are a WHOLE lot of variables to getting KR to run smoothly. I don't think Vista can be solely blamed without first investigating video card type, video card driver versions, Direct X versions, system specs (CPU, RAM, etc), monitor native resolution requirements, video card resolution settings in Windows (as compared to the monitor's native resolution requirements), etc.

My solution ended up being rooted in my video card - not in my choice of Vista as an operating system (though that was my first guess).

got it working.. copied the d3d9_30.dll to \windows\system folder and to my kr folder and it worked..
