Re: Possibly a new player.......

The hardest thing to me about the game for new players is the learning curve. Once you get past that, it's no sweat. You can join a guild and hunt with them, or solo, or just gather a few people together and go hunt like that. As with just about any game, there are griefers, cheaters, and scammers however. I know UOForums has a guild in Lake Austin. It's centrally located in the US so lag shouldn't be an issue. Maybe they can help get you started and at least give you some info on playing.

Re: Possibly a new player.......

Let me add my welcome as well to the Uoforums and also to UO.

Your questions seemed to have been answered already in full above.

All that remains to be said is to have fun , thats why i am still playing UO after 9yrs.

Life is the Dance and Honor, the Dance is Death to those we oppose,
Honor is our salvation.
Without Honor the Dance is meaningless
forms and we are nothing.

The only penalty I've found in dying is that I lose fame. When you die, you need to find someone (player or wandering healer) to ressurrect you so you can get back to your body and claim your items. If you do not get back to your body in time (I think it's 3 or 5 minutes) you're body along with your items will decay and go away into eternity.

You also lose insurance money as well if you chose to insure your items which most people do. It cost so much per item but when you rez; your items will be in your pack and not on your corspe.
