Picking a server (NorthEast)

Hey everyone,

I used to play on the catskills server years ago. Today i purchased a new account and plan on logging in tonight and playing, but i can't decide which of the NE servers to pick from. I always played on catskill, but i wanted to maybe hear from some other players how there servers are. Theres really nothing left for me on catskills(all my friends have long since quit).

i'm sure tons of these threads go up everyday, but lil help here?

Re: Picking a server (NorthEast)

I think it depends on what you're looking for

Do you want a busy shard? quiet one?
Hmm...there's a bunch on the east coast, Cats/Atlantic i'd imagine are the busier ones
Legends is the quietist I think.

If your going to start anew, then I'd use UOTrace and just pick the best routed one. IE: Least hops and best ping. Worth a shot if your looking for a reason to start somewhere.

Re: Picking a server (NorthEast)

Well, when i played before, it was on a ****** 56k , a very long time ago. But now i'm up with the times and on cable, so a busy server isn't a problem. I was just seeing if anyone has any recommendations. Its been so long i forget alot of things.

Just hard to pick one now that i don't have distance limitations.

Re: Picking a server (NorthEast)

Ah the days of dialup, heh
I played on Baja from the UK, on AOL Dialup, that.....was a nightmare
But we didn't have broadband back then, heh

Well, if you want an active population with hardly any housing space, pick Cats/Atlantic
If you want a less active population, but actuall areas to place a house in, I'd pick Legends
OR, if you don't mind playing on a west coast shard, pick Lake Austin
LA has the UO:F guild and also has space for housing to.

Re: Picking a server (NorthEast)

Yea one of my concerns was coming back, but with no place for a "home". I figured in the last few years the servers have exploded in population.

So much to read up on too (new items, spells, lands etc.. im going cross eyed)

i'm gonna try F'Nor's recommendation and use UO trace and see how the servers ping out to me, But if i want to place a home, i guess i better scope out legends.

You still have the ability to make multi chars across multi servers right?

Lake Superior has housing available. Not as good as LA but it has some spots

Re: Picking a server (NorthEast)

Legends is the quiestest. Atlantic is the busiest.

Catskills, Great Lakes, Lake Superior, Chesepeake are all populated, but not so much as atlantic.
