welp i did some messing around with what you guys suggested, these are my results:

but this is where it gets intresting, i could get my fire resist up, but it was the only only one i could get to change...... untill i put my spell book on ?!?!?

What is your "real" Magic Resist skill? Im betting thats the reason it changes at all with your spellbook equipped...

The answer is in the skill, Resisting Spells. Judging by the pictures I'm assuming your skill (without the book) is somewhere in the 80s or 90s.

The way it works, is that your Resisting Spells skill will provide a base resist - in the case of GM Resisting Spells, that base resist is 40. This means that you will always have 32 in all resists unless you can stack enough armor resists to surpass that. So, when you put on that spell book, it adds +12 to Resisting Spells skill and thus to your base resist.

wow, i feel like a moron. that makes total sense. i never realized that resist had any effect on your ar rating. and you are correct i have 88 real skill, so with the book i have gm. thx for your input
