Re: parry with pushido

Sorry to intrude... do we have specific skill training threads on these boards?

Might be fun to post all tips on the same area...

Re: parry with pushido

i belive parry will raise with bushido as long as you arent holding a shield, as once you have bushido it uses your weapon to parry, and not a shield

pretty sure tahts right, i remember that is how i trained it up, holding a weapon and letting about 6 sheep attack me

Re: parry with pushido

Parry is probably the easiest skill to train, even easier with bushido. I assume you have a weapon skill trained up as well? If so, get a weapon that doesn't fit into that category (ie. if you have swords get a mace, fencing get a sword or something like that). Go to the jhelom farms with all the little critters around and get 9 sheep/chicken/pigs attacking you. Make sure you aren't wearing armor as they will break it. Just equip your non-skilled weapon and you will gain like crazy.

You can seriously gain from 0-100 in a couple hours and 100-120 in another few hours. Just need some way to heal yourself, which is made easier/free with bushido since you just hit confidence every 14 seconds or so and every time you parry you will get healed by more than enough to keep up with the 1 damage all the animals will be doing. Just make sure to pay attention to when your weapon is about to break and replace it when it starts getting too low. Or even better get a self repair weapon like the Holy Sword or Cavorting Club if they are cheap on your server.

Re: parry with pushido

go to jhelom pits and get female warriors (remember FEMALE) without weapons (UNARMED).. get about 30 of them and let them hit you while wearing a buckler (30 gold at vendor... you WILL need a few)

give it about 20 minutes youll have 120 parry

i dont know if thats a bug or not... maybe UO designers wanted to make unarmed females do 0 dmg because they are sexist pigs (lol jk) or its simply just one of those things that isnt a bug but kinda seems like exploitation

i dont view it as an exploit. it is there for that purpose, otherwise they would have changed it. same as using the spellbinders in n.haven to gain magic res.

some feel as you do, i don't. there are more than enough skills that have to be grinded out in this game, i.e. tamer, tailor, bard, provo. the dev's are giving you a lay-up here. do yourself a favor and take it.

Re: parry with pushido

You will need a 2 hand weapon to get the best parry gains while having bushido, the higher your bushido the better chance to parry with 2 handed weapon and the less the chance to parry with a shield.

With gm parry, gm bushido, and 100 dex the chance to parry with 2 handed weapon is something like 35% with shield its like 5%.

There is a parry configurer on stratics somewhere so you can input your parry , bushido and dex to see what percent of parry you will have.
