I use to play Uo years ago when it first came out until around three years ago.
I was thinking of starting up again, but my questions are:

a/ are there still alot of people that play the game
b/ is it possible to play with a 56k conn? (i have recently moved and can only get a 56k conn)

Well, there aren't as many as there used to be standing around outside banks... so I guess there are fewer players. I don't notice any problem because of it though!

As to the 56K connection, until around a year ago, I did play with that, and it was only an issue in high population areas. So, things like Doom and Champs were especially dangerous. If you have an isp that gives you discons a lot, that will be a factor too. I know others here use 56 K connection and will offer more comments.

Some shards are still active. I play europa, atlantic and siege, all of which are active enough to meet lots of folks.

As for other quieter shards, i dont play them but from wht i hears some a ghost towns.

Also yes its still possible on a 56k connection.

I play on a 56K connection when I housesit for my parents occasionally. Since I mainly PvP.. I usually spend my time in game organizing the chests in my house. *chuckles*

PvM is alright as long it isn't a heavy spawn.. Any farming I did required alot of luring one target at a time.

One last suggestion.. close every single program you have running while playing.. especially your email program. If you're email program is setup to check your email every so many minutes.. I guarantee somebody is going to send you a 1 meg attachment while you're on the 3rd level of Despise. It's Murphy's Law.

I recall it being stupidly costly when i use to play.

Not quite sure what your talking about either(and I am NOT going insane!!!).

So how are things coming with UO? Any questions can be posted here and we can help you as much as possible(I came back after a year and a half off and it took me forever to get back into the swing of things).
