Old player here

Hi, i played UO from 98 to 2000. Played a bit of EQ(boring), some Shadowbane(great pvp, poor everything else) and now lots of WoW. But WoW lacks the depth UO had. Ever since i heard of Kingdom reborn, i told myself ill stick around and see if a new shard will be available (I want to start fresh with other players).

I think that it is unlikely that a new shard will open up, there are shards already that are devoid of players. I doubt that UO:KR will bring in so many players that new shards will be opened, although I'm sure EA would be delighted if that were to happen.

My guess is that there will not be a new shard made available any time soon. Many shards are already underpopulated as it is. However, there are a great many players on most shards who would welcome you and help you get up to speed. Welcome back!
