I have never been a big poster on forums, mostly a reader, but I suppose my recent qualms about the game are strong enough that I feel the need to post them here (disclaimer: this post may get long winded and melodramatic, but I’ll do my best to avoid that… )
I have been playing this phenomenal game on and off ever since its first release in 1997 (yeah I missed the beta) and it has always been the same love/hate relationship: my problem being that I am more of a loner, I like to do things by myself better than taking part in the community. Well, why the hell have you been playing for so long you might ask haha. I guess the game in itself is so great that I just can’t leave it for good: every now and then, I need my fix!
I’ve experience this relapse into asocial life and click, F2, click, F2, click… you know… during the summer and got really hooked, just like I played the game for the first time. But I soon realized it has become a difficult world for PVE oriented people like me, because of its economy, and the difficulty of the interesting beasties to slay and slay again in family (or alone in my case). To give you the picture, the strongest thing I have ever killed alone is a paragon rotting corpse… it is pathetic I know…
Here comes finally the part where you all get to interact! Do you think it is worth joining a guild and forcing myself into a gameplay style to which I am entirely unfamiliar (with a few exceptions I have never played in raids)? Another concern is that I am a rather seasonal player, and am afraid I will not have enough time to give my guild back. Man I love the game, and there still so much I haven’t done because of my weird playing philosophy. I want to fight the Dark Father at least once in my life

Joining a group for an outing isn't a lifelong commitment. Think of it as meeting a new boyfriend/girlfriend. Take some time to see if it's worth contiunuing the relationship. Some folks never get married while others play the field. Your first guild doesn't have to be your last guild or only guild. There are guilds on some shards that just join up for hunts. GIve it a try.

Just clinging to your last Dark Father comment; you don't need a guild for Doom. Just go, there's people there without a doubt and you can just jump in on the circuit.

Peerless and champs are pretty much the only thing you can't do without a guild, and even those can be done occasionally when you happen to come across a group that is willing to take you along.

I agree with Adrianna, get a skull and head to Doom. It is busy pretty much 24/7 these days with the increased arty drop, and it is not necessary to be in a guild. Last night on GL there were probably 10 different guilds and at least half again that many unguilded characters taking down the Dark Fathers. Tons of fun. Take a character down there and leave them for a while. Heck, my archer hasn't seen sunshine in over two weeks lol.

If u want to try hunting peerless the guild I am in on atlantic is very active as far as hunting peerless. We are also in a fairly big alliance, U dont have to join up , we would be willing to let u hunt with us anytime. If u like hunting with us we would of course let u join up with us. If u are interested in hunting with us just ICQ me(in my profile) or pm me here. However I dont come on here alot as I am working soooo much. When I do get time to get on my computer I tend to play UO and not go to forums.But I will check back just in case u dont have icq or at least try
