Of Liches and Spells

Hi, I read that I should introduce myself here so I will before posing my question. I first start playing Ultima in 1992 at the age of 4. It was Ultima IV and I still have the cartridge (master system). I also played Ultima VII for the SNES.

When I did get a PC it never occured to me to look Ultima up even though along with Sonic and Final Fantasy VII it was my favourite childhood game. And seeing as no one else I knew played it I thought it was an obscure game. When I finally did a few weeks ago I found out about UO and immediately bought the 9th anniversary edition.

So far I'm having a blast on UO

. Wish I'd been able to play 'back in the day' but hey, better late than never right?

Anyhoooo I was wonder where Liches are and if they're tough as well as whether there's easier monsters to kill to gain necro scrolls, thanks

Hello my friend.
We met in Haven where i equiped you a little if you recall. I am glad you found your way to these forums.

As to your question Liches can be found in several areas.....

The Ruins south of Yew on the right hand side of the road which leads from Yew to Skara.
The Dungeons known as Covetous, Deceit and Fire

Also there are the much deadlier version Lich Lords which can be found in Deceit and Fire ( and Covetous in Felucca ).
In a little cave south of Trinsic there is a small cave/temple in which can be found Ancient Lich Lords, a very deadly place for anyone ill preparred.

Necro scrolls fall on many creatures and should be easy to gain...just ask around. I will provide you with a full necro book if you let me know where to meet you.

Hello Ulfhedinn, welcome to UO and The Forums.

Liches can be found in several places, they can be difficult and almost impossible to anyone that hasn't experienced anything lesser.

This link will show you info on liches as well as where they can be found. All (most) other critters/monsters are listed there as well.

Good luck, and there is a huge section here with FAQs for days if you have any questions. And if there is one you can't find an answer to/doesn't have an answer, feel free to ask.

Hi Ulfhedinn. I've found necro scrolls on imps at Hedge Maze, deathwatch beetles of Waste desert north of Zento, on air elementals, Deamons at Fire Temple, ice fiends, sphynx in T2A desert, as well as in treasure chests from tmaps and fishing sos'es. Happy hunting!

There might be an easier way or two to get your full necro spellbook. If you do the new player quest given by the necromancer North by Northeast of New Haven, once you get to 50.0 or above Necromancy on the quest to complete it, you are rewarded with a brand new, no frills, 17 spell necrobook. Also, doing the spirit speak new player quest will reward you with 100 of each necro reagent (unless something has changed recently)
