A New Players Guide To Spawning

For doing champion spawns you can only get the sculls of power and the scrolls of power from Felluca. The spawns are located in some of the Felluca dungeons and in the Lost Lands. The Lost Lands are accessible through several entrances: Dellucia Passage, Moonglow (mage shop to the north of city,) Marble Island, “The Light House”, Trinsic Passage, through Fire dungeon and one or two others.

You must be blue and have Knight of Valor to start the spawn. The easiest two spawns would be rats and reptiles, these lead to the Baracoon and Riktor respectively.
Baracoon: Lvl 1 -Rats and slimes
Lvl 2 -Rat men and dire wolves
Lvl 3 -Rat mages and hell hounds
Lvl 4 -Silver serpents and Rat archers
Riktor Lvl 1 -Snakes and Lizardmen
Lvl 2 -Ophidains and Lava Lizards
Lvl 3 -Ophidian Warriors and Drakes
Lvl 4 -Ophidian Zealots and Dragons

(Someone double check the Riktor spawn, not sure if I’m right there.)

The dungeons will always contain the same spawn, depending on the dungeon. Despise is Baracoon, Destard is Riktor, Tera Keep is Memphis etc……..look on stratics for more info on what spawns where.

In the Lost Lands, the spawns are random, so you may have to pop a few to find one you want to do. Lord Oaks also spawns in the Lost Lands, I can’t recommend doing that spawn, due to the high demand on Lord Oaks Skulls.

Re: A New Players Guide To Spawning

Once you have challenged the champion the first level spawn will appear. To get to the second level you must kill the spawn. Now, make note of how many red candles there are to start with. This will determine when you reach 2nd level. If there are 2 red candles, you need 4 red candles to spawn 2nd level, 3 red candles takes 5 and 4 takes 6. Then the levels will advance every 4 candles after that. The aim is to fill the outer edge of the alter with red candles.

Whilst working the spawn white candles will pop on the alter. You need 4 whites before you get another red. Its really quite simple, you’ll see what I mean when you start.

Another thing you should know is that the 4th level spawn will only be within so many tiles of the alter, I think it’s around 15 squares from the altar.

Once the champion has been summoned upon the altar, the spawn will stop spawning, you need to make sure that there is a clear area around the altar to allow you to safely destroy the champion. Now, ensure the champion is at full health before you commence destroying him/her. This next bit is quite important, you need to find a member in your group that can offer ‘protection’ to the rest of the group. This requires justice, the higher the justice, the more scrolls you will receive. Knight of Justice will give the party a total of 12 scrolls, with no protector you group will receive 6 scrolls. Half of the scrolls with drop in the protector’s backpack, the rest will be within the parties’ backpacks.

Re: A New Players Guide To Spawning

Note that only blues can be offered protection. This means that reds should not attack the champion. The champion must start at full health, only protected players hit the champ to get the max amount of scrolls. The Protector, the guy with the highest Justice, should not attack the champion. If someone hits the champion after you start killing it, then you must heal the damage that they did, 2-3 greater heals are usually needed for this.

A good way to stop the champion moving is to use energy fields in an ‘x’. Any player may do non damaging spells to the champion, even if your not protected. These include evil omen or corpse skin.

When the champion is slain, it is customary to give all the scrolls to the protector. Then a player goes through the gate in the middle of the altar. This place is known as the star room. This is were people maybe hiding to steal the scrolls off you. Check this room is clear. The person with all the scrolls now runs into the star room and out through the gate to a safe city. Since protectors are blue, a city like Luna is advised. Now all the other players may leave the spawn area.

All meet up in someone’s house and use dice to determine who gets what scrolls. The skull of power may be kept by the groups leader, if you collect all 6 skulls you may kill the harrower for Stat scrolls.

Re: A New Players Guide To Spawning

A Few Things to Check Before You Start:
  • That all armor and weapons are insured.
  • All armor and weapons have over 100 durability. (You don’t want to have to leave because your armor breaks.)
  • That you have 200-300 bandages, if you need them to heal. Split them up into piles of 50 in your pack. A monster won’t loot all of them if you die.
  • Take a green thorn each, these can be placed in the ground (not in dungeons) for another method of escape from spawns. If the star room is full of REDS.
  • Decide who will offer ‘protection’ whilst killing the champion.
  • Have a party with all those that are there, allows people to talk easier if you don’t have a guild speak program.
  • Be prepared to be raided by a guild, that will slaughter you all, kill the champion and take anything off your body that is of value.
  • And most importantly have enough insurance in your bank, in none check form, to allow you to die 20 times. Try not to die that many times, but sometimes spawns get hard, and if you get raided it could turn into a huge battle.

Re: A New Players Guide To Spawning

Is the Valor now required? Forgive the question, but I have not been able to keep up with the changes lately. Used to be that Valor would speed up the appearance of the spawn, but you could do it the old fashioned way and work your way through.
All in all, good tips, especially the reality of the reds. Another caution would be: wary of strangers joining the party. Hunt with those you know. Bring plenty of potions, but no kegs. Keep the potions in the first level of inventory. This can slow down the looters quite a bit.

Re: A New Players Guide To Spawning

Baldguy if a champ has not been "popped" you have to use valor to "challange" the champ. If someone has popped it and left it. Then you can just start working it. Easiest way to tell if one has been popped is to look for any candles. If none present someone that is Knight of Valor can challange the champ and so pop it.

Re: A New Players Guide To Spawning

The champion may now, on occasion, pop itself. I've been in despise killing the Baracoon when the spawn has self-popped. But also be wary of popped spawns, if you find a rat spawn that isn't being worked, there is a high chance thats its being watched, unless it popped itself.

Re: A New Players Guide To Spawning

once you(or someone else) "pops" the spawn, doest the scroll quality go down? what i mean by that is..... doest your odds of getting 120's decrease?

Re: A New Players Guide To Spawning

The time it takes to do the spawn doesn't seem to make a difference on what scrolls you get. However, the more 105 scrolls you get whilst doing the spawn appears to affect the quality of the scrolls you get at the end. 3 people doing despise takes in the region of 15 minutes.

Effective templates:

Necro Mages
Mounted archer, using area effect bow
Dexxer using Pixxie Swatter
