I know it's kind of late to be a new player in this game, but eh.. looks fun.

So, I bought the 8th Age, got the 4 tokens.. sold two of them and have like 1.5mil in bank already. I bought a house and designed it. But one problem, I don't know how to put a roof on it? I try to use the roof tiles but they all make it look weird and the corners dont fit on the corners, etc.

Plus I asked if anyone knew where I could place my house plot and this guy ported me to an island of all ice, I have no idea how to get off of it (But I did get my house placed )

I also used the advanced character token that they gave me and im currently:

Ninjitsu 85
Stealth 85
Hiding 85
Fencing 70
Tactics 70
Swordsmanship 33
Necromancy 33

This is probably very terrible, but I have no clue what i'm doing. Also, how do I find out my spells and stuff? When I made a mage I had a spell book on me, but now I don't..

I'm also thinking of scrapping this guy and starting brand new just so I can learn the game a little before being a decent character like I am now.

Roofing isn't something i've messed with, so I can't help much there i'm afraid

Now, Ice island, ack
There is no way off of that land, unless you have a boat, can recall/gate (magery), find a player who can open a gate for you to a populated area, or use the "help stuck" option in the menu

Now, you won't have a spell book on this character because you didn' thave magery as a starting skill
You should have a book of ninjitsu? (I think)

You could allways train your skills on the wildlife there, like the ice wolves, polar bears and whatnot.

There should be a player vendor on the island that sells rune books for town bank and recall scrolls to recarge it, that should help you off the island. Good luck

Well, the "spells" that you will be able to use are in the aforementioned book of Ninjitsu. Nothing to get you off the island thogh...if you cant find anyone to gate you off, just go to the help section on the top bar and and select "My Character is Physically stuck" option. Itll teleport you to a short list of towns back on the mainland...

For the roof issues, go to homesandcastles.com (I think) they have great guides.

Welcome to the forums! Everyone here has given you good advice so far!

I just wanted to add a couple things. Roofs can be very tricky! It took me a long time to figure out how to get them to look right. I would recommend just playing with it until you find something that works for you. But I have a couple sites that are "roofing tutorials" that might help you out.

Don't scrap that character - just make another one with the next slot! There's a free officially sanctioned utility UO Auto-Map (UOAM) available at http://www.uoam.net/ which might help you a bit ie so you can figure out a way back to your house.
As someone asked already, what shard are you on?

Another way off the island is the Help feature. There is an option for "help I am physically stuck". Although you are not actually stuck it is a good way off the island. You get a pop up gump with a few town choices.

Which shard are you on?? You can get some help from us as well depending on your shard. (I'm on Great Lakes myself)

There is a reasonable option to the roof, thats an open air floor. I use low walls, look like railings, to insure no one falls off the edge. Love having all that extra space and being able to look out upon the world.
