New Guild but Guilded

Hi all, I'm interested in starting a guild of my own. I have a 2 names to choose from. "FOE - Fists Of the Elite" or "FRA - Fists of Righteous Anger." The second is actually a rip off of from my favorite book, The Diamond Age. But I like the contrast of "FRA." Anyway the point is that, I belong to a guild, Black Lotus Society, and I work with my Guildmaster... I can't help but feel that this would, in someway, be a betrayal. Anyone have any experience with this and some possible input?

Do you have any friends who are going to be in your new guild with you? Or are you going to start then recruit? If you poach current guild members, it might be a betrayal. Everyone wants to see "their" players grow up and branch out on their own tho. Maybe an alliance? It's just unless you have people you know and trust to help, running a good sized guild is actually a pain lol.

Will the guild you start have the same play style as the one your in? Meaning both are trammel based PvM or both PvP. If that is the case your old guild will feel betrayed no matter where you recruit from. If they are opposites then you should be good to go

I was in a similar situation with you. My friend, and former guild leader that I was in, was becoming somewhat inactive, but he was still around. Some of did not like this, and left his guild, and started one where I became the guild leader, he quit playing UO as a result. So, from my experience, unless you do something completely different then the current guild you're in, they'll see it as a betrayal. Even if you do something completely different, they may still see it as one. My suggestion would be to talk to your friend, let him know what you're going to do, and why before you do anything.

Thank you all for your input! :] The Guildmaster has not, in fact, played actively about a month after he covinced me to give UO a try. This is the major factor. Furthermore, I spoke to him on Friday and let him know what was going on. He stated that he did not realize that he was so inactive in UO. So, he said that he would take no offense as long as I didn't try to take any other current guildmembers with me. Which I won't :]
