Those are definitely good graphics and a complete improvement over what is out there on 3D right now. I reserve my opinion further.. I am still a 2D player and sincerely hope I can continue to be.

That doesnt seem to be a true 3D client. The graphics look better then current.

I like them too... I mean will not get me to stop playing unless they drop the content... I just "hope" very much they have a 2D client as well as they new upgraded 3D client that is all my conserns are.

I don't see where you get that idea at all. The critters and scenery certainly are UO not DAOC. this had to have been in the works a looong time before buying Mythic. And there is no reason not to have 2 games. You can get a better market share. (I used to work for an air conditioning company that advertised against itself in the same magazines. I had 2 sets of signs, prices, and invoices depending on the phone number they called)


I just hope they actually go through with it and not cancel it like UO2, UXO etc...

I am lining up like most of the others, I like 2D. I think the 3D graphics look cool, better than current. I am not fond of the new look for the Dragon, looks kinda weird....like a jaberwoki. Of course, I never seen a jaberwoki(sp). I do like the way some of the other monsters came out...like that Cyclops...in the 3rd picture...basically every thing in that screen cap looks neat.

Looking at it, it still kinda looks 2D....Most of the 3D games out there have you looking at the game from behind the char, and the world spins around you as you turn. This looks like it may still run like UO 2D currently views the world.

I just don't like the lag 3d gives me

EA announced another client as well today that is un related to UO.

A random observation:

Several people I talked to seem to be under the impression that it's a full 3Dclient (full scalable/rotatable camera, everything made of polygons etc).

Upon closer inspection it appears to be a heavily modified version of the existing 3D client. The character/monster models have all been entirely redone to a high standard, but those are the only things in the world that are made of polygons. Every 2D graphic in the game has been redone at a higher resolution The standard of these seems a little questionable - some of it, ie the trees and some of the house components appear to have been done very well, others seem rather half hearted).

I'd be interested to hear a more detailed breakdown by a dev, but that's my analysis from what I can see

Technically it doesn't matter if it is 2D or 3D... game CONTENT is what matters but still! 2D forever ^_^ *waves a flag with the words "2D Rocks!" on it*

Ah well, we all known this will eventally happen. Some of us totally rejecting the idea of 3D graphics and others looking forward to it. But I guess EA / OSI (I am not sure which one to mension there) wanted the best for UO now sense 3D seems to be the MAJOR thing now days and people will not even touch a game if it is 2D anymore =( I know ALOT of my friends are like that.

We do not want UO to die nor do the Dev team want it too. Really UO has be 2D much longer than I ever expected it too so we have to give it that. I will miss 2D dearly if it is no longer an option but it will not discourage me from the "game" I love. The content is what really brung all of us here to play (or least for me.) I kick and scream further and further into future... I rather just stick to the simple and old days myself (I Know I am 22 but believe me I rather be stuck in a loop from 60's to 90's) but I guess it is time that UO upgrades to hope maybe get people playing and finding the reason why people love it so much.

I know there is alot of people in my guild on the Atlantic shard and I am sure many others. Some of us doesn't have very good computers and are worried for 3D graphics in this aspect. I totally can see where you all are coming from but as they have said... they will be the lowest system requirment compaired to all the other MMORPG's out there so that is nice they were keeping people with slower running computers in mind.

I'd say give 3D client a chance, mostly because it was bound to happen one of these days. I am ready to play many years even after the change... graphics is only "eye candy" content is what matters... the indepth play and UO defintally has that where no other game has it.
