Congratulations!

You are one of the very first to get a glimpse of a reborn Ultima Online. We won't be releasing more details for a bit, but we do want to let you know a few things:

1. We are completely re-building the Ultima Online client with new graphics and a new easier-to-use interface.

2. It is an in-place upgrade. That means you will be able to keep your characters, items, houses and everything else you've earned over the past nine years.

3. We are committed to maintaining extremely low system specs. They will be higher than what UO launched with in 1997, but will still be far lower than almost any other MMORPG on the market.

4. The launch will happen in 2007.

5. There are many, many more surprises in store.

The Ultima Online development team has been working hard for the past eight months to make real the vision of a thriving, vibrant Ultima Online. We are proud to finally let you in on our secret. Look for a full announcement soon.

I'll admit, those 3D graphics look better than the current "3D" that is in place now, but I truly hope that, in the name of the Virtues, there will be a 2D option. The old 2D graphics are the charm of Ultima, in my opinion.

I, personally, think it looks wonderful. And I play 2d exclusively now. Of course I want to see that paperdoll, but, hey, let's start out positive. I like it so far.

It looks great and I believe the Dev's are on target with this 3d engine.

Let's hope it works, although, brand new client, created from scratch, running on server code which is...10? years old or more?

It'd be good if they got rid of that grid like movement and made it more fluid

They ARE going to ALLOW 2D client RIGHT?! Please do not let the great 2D'ness just fade away like that!!!!! =*(

It looks good BUT I want the OPTION to turn them on or off but I have a REALLY bad feeling they are going to go ALL 3D >_<

*sigh* 3D is beautiful don't get me wrong but... UO had a special sense magic when I first played it and them beautiful 2D graphics made it even more amazing! Because UO kept the 2D'ness SO long where as all these other games went 3D and that is awesome for a compnay to do that! Alot of them try to stay in competion trying to out due each other in graphics where as UO team knew they had an awesome game and didn't have to worry about it ^_^

I mean UO does deserve the best but I just really hope they keep a 2D client for us who want to play under it and contuine to advance 2D as well as thier 3D and not neglect it after installing this (if they are going to give the option)

Writing is on the wall. EA bought Mythic and now have to show a profit in that department (MMORPGs). EA doesn't want 2 seperate medieval fantasy MMORPGs running simultaneously, so they're scrapping UO in favor of what the DAoC people (or whatever 3D game it was that Mythic was so successfully responsible for) can come up with. They'll BS it up as being Ultima still with a seemless transition but it doesn't float. Sorry. If I wanted 3D engine game of the quarter I'd go play it. It's not just the fact that I think the concept art above looks like utter garbage, or that the dragon in Wind in the screencap above looks like a jackalope,

I do not want a new game, and that's exactly what this is. It'll be Ultima Online in the printing on the box only. Gone will be everything that hooked me on UO. The look. The feel. The fiction. The people.

This will be a huge spurt in the market, I'm sure. Enough people out there would trade in their own RL children for a "better pimp 3D" version I think.

I'm sorry. I have nothing positive to say about this, the staff, the devs or EA at this point, so I will stop here.

By the way, I'd just like to say that tying us all up on this "Inu plot" for all this time, only to spend such great effort to "rescue" her from Yrigor (even though she's still sitting there in her cell for no reason) and find out it was all a ploy just to introduce us to the new UO's name ("KINGDOM REBORN!"), was cheap.
