Hello everyone, Im an old UO player who stopped playing around two years later of game release, because I lost the atraction of it.

After some time playing another games, like WoW, where I am an active player right now, the coming of Kingdom Reborn atracted me again to UO (and the fact that WoW isnt atracting to me anymore).

To the main point, Im a bit lost about how the game developed after the beginning of the expansion Samurai Empire; what I mean, I dont know what expansion/game should I buy to be on the right track of the game, and start playing again.

Should I await the release of KR, and in case it takes to much time, what UO pack should I purchase, the one everybody is playin right now?

Thanks for your answers and help in advice.

PS: I would also be very gratefull if you could direct me to a good shard, one with normal playstyle, and one with the hardcore rules. I speak Spanish and English and like PvE and PvP equaly. A well developed one or a fresh one form scracth with decent playerbase would do the trick.

The most recent edition is 9th anniversary. Mondain's Legend will also allow access to the newest content.

Production shard choice depends alot on your pings. At the shard selection page, look at your pings. If you list your lowest pings for us, we can narrow down the best shards for you.

A clarification, 9th anniversary, if Im not wrong, is one of those special packs that includes of game content, which are the diferences with Mondain Legend?

And also, do you recommend me to get one of those packs or wait for the release of KR?

9th anniversary, IMO, was just a pixel crack fix. There was no content added that was particuar to it. BUT it is normally cheaper than Mondains Legend, and allows access to ALL expansions.

Mondains legend allows you to create an elf character, has new boss class (Peerless), and new items that are specific to this expansion.

Don't mean to correct you Baldguy but it's Mondain's Legacy.

reading your post again, I get your confusion.
KR is NOT an expansion. It is a new client. It is delivered, but currently people report it as "needs work". The next actual expansion, with new content, has been delayed indefinitely. This expansion will require the KR client (the interface changed, but not the game or game content.)

Your best bet for now is the 2D client. The game CD you should look for is entitled "UO: 9th anniversary". This will allow access to all content, on BOTH the 2d and KR clients.

Hopefully that clears things up.

As I see some things never change, like the forums related to UO have the best community and that its main web page is outdated as hell.

Ill try to fetch the game box today and ill post about server pings.
