My attempt to price turn-in items

This is my opinion, so feel free to post your own calculation. Don't flame me because you disagree with my valuation - I'm just spouting off!

This assessment is based only on the most current (Magincia-forward) event items. I was on a break for the ophidian and rat items.

Bottom line up front: Since cursed artifacts are the most concentrated, available source of points my valuation is based on those.

Average price of low-end cursed artifact before turn-in: 50,000 gp
(ex: bonecrusher, divine countenance, helm of insight)

Turn-in value of cursed artifacts: 5,000 points, or 10:1 ratio

Cursed artifacts are arguably more useful than any single turn-in item. However, the turn-in items cannot be looted if insured. I submit that these factors cancel each other out.

Resulting Pricing guide based on this ratio:
Unredeemed Point Tickets: 10gp per point value
Blessed Shirt: 10,000 gp
Nocturne Earrings: 50,000gp
.etc
.etc
.etc
Armor Pieces: 1,000,000gp

Some things to consider:
- It is incredibly annoying to turn in the low-point items. I have enough swords/shields for a pair of earrings or two, but not the patience to endlessly drop items on the NPC. I'm not unique, so I expect many people will turn in a few high-point items (cursed artifacts) instead of scads of low ones.

- The Berserker's Scythe was endlessly farmed, but inconsistantly spawned. Either the demons spawned infrequently or the scythe dropped infrequently. Since they are 7,500pts, they might become the new turn-in standard. However, the current price point for a scythe is ridiculously above 1.5M on most shards. The fact that the scythe is worth far more than it's equivalent point value means it won't be turned in.

- Same goes, theoretically, for gold ducats, Invalis's Bardiche, and other high-end items. I'll be damned if I'm going to trade my Staves of Pyros and Vorpal Blades for this garbage.

- Given the high rate of point accumulation on my home shard, I expect the armor pieces to be widely available. Anticipate armor prices inflating to 2M initially, stabilizing for a time at 1M, then falling below that in a few months' time.

- Given that there are clearly new items spawning that will have a turn-in value (obsidian pieces, ophidian items allegedly dropping again, cursed artifacts dropping off Berserkers still), the availability of turn-in points and turn-in rewards will be steady for some time.

- Nocturne Earrings are useful for almost every suit. Their price will rise above the 50,000gp point and stay there for some time.

- Boots will be sought after with the Vine Cord Sandal nerf. However, they are just not that good and virtue armor is better (solerets) - if more constraining. They will never be priced more than the 10:1 ratio suggests.

- The point tickets themselves will have little real collector's value as a rare. However, if the tickets are later accepted at other collections, that might change.

My 0.02

Re: My attempt to price turn-in items

10gp per point is hardly sufficient. The price value of objects that influence points changed dramatically for example cursed arties.

you determine the cost of the rewards based on the cost of the objects used to get them. Its hard to place a flat gold rate currently because you can't use gold to get points.

Points are currently worth around 200gp each, minimum. 10? sorry. Nice try if you were looking to buy some though.

Re: My attempt to price turn-in items

I think the price will really depend on how long the ophid items are going to drop. I did kill several ophids last night and find rations/snake skins on them, not everyone dropped some but enough for people to farm them again.

and its also depends on how long the turn in will be left on between publishes 52 and 53. and what are the other turn in items which are suppose to go in with 53 (mousehole, etc...) If there are better items in 53, I think most people will wait until then.

Kidding right? 3m is an extreme lowball.

Re: My attempt to price turn-in items

Congratulations, Kratos Aurion, on so completely and quickly ignoring the first line of my post.

If I'm underpriced, let's have people start posting shard prices.

I find it significant that there are absolutely no turn-in items for sale in Luna on any shard yet (11:20 Mountain). That tells me people are massing stockpiles for inflated sales. If these items were truely going to be rare/hard-to-get you can bet they would have already hit a vendor in Luna.

Thanks to the people who replied with substance - let's start a good discussion!

I think it still is many people waiting to see what new items are going to be added in publish 53. I do not have many points, but I am will to wait til we know the new items. Then I will make my choices and maybe sell a few items off.

Re: My attempt to price turn-in items

And, just so I'm clear Pickaxe pete:

You think 20M is a fair price for a piece of this armor? I'll go buy a Doom arty suit for that price, instead, and have 2M leftover for a barbed kit.

Re: My attempt to price turn-in items

20m is absolutely fair. That is a LOT of shields and time/effort, and most people did not score many cursed arties during maginicia (I got two and LIVED there). Time is valuable, don't forget and 20mil is what, 20 bucks? Phoenix armor from the original cleanup has no stats other than that of base ringmail and it is worth 150m/suit. This suit is actually superior because it is useable. Both sets are/were difficult to accumulate enough points to get.

Stats on the set compared to existing gear have nothing at all to do with its value. The fact that it is useable at all is enough.

Aside from that, gold is incredibly common these days and a few hundred million is not a lot anymore for many.

Re: My attempt to price turn-in items

I take it you are using those illegally scripted websites to find your price info. Not judging, that is a personal choice, but if you went and *looked* around Luna there is plenty for sale especially the lower-ticket-value things and raw tickets.

200gp a point as I said.
