llama is a good mount, low profile, fast. Gives you an advantage in pvp. Lesser hyru is nice ride as well. It can dismount, and kick some butt.

My tamer used to sell swampies on Atlantic to new warriors for 10k gold. This is enough so that it's not charity, but is easy enough to acquire without much effort (20 escorts in Haven, 2 hours, 10k.)

If you get a swampy, be sure to buyDragon Barding for it. This is a deed made by blacksmiths that covers the swampy in metal armor. Deeds that are normal quality will allow the swampy to absorb 10% of the damage its rider would otherwise take, but an exceptional deed will absorb 20% of damage! The deeds come in all ore colors, but there are no bonuses for using a better ore, so an iron deed is as good as a Valorite deed. The deeds do wear out and have to be replaced occasionally, as well.
