damn bro thats ALOT of ranting sad part is i aggree with most of it i played super nes before i found uo rennisance been hooked ever since when aos came out i stoped playing for few years actually just came back about 2 year ago as far as kr though as long as its not a have to have expantion im fine with it cause ill stick with 2d

I have grown to like alot of new aspects of the game, like house customization and new rares to put in it. Also I find it fun to explore the new lands looking for new ways to die. Thats about it. The only thing that keeps me ingame is that my I got friends there to adventure with, and i love adventuring no matter what.

Im probably gonna keep playing since I still like the game and im willing to adapt but I sure hope they won't introduce any more crap.

i still can't believe it takes Mr. L337 DoOdz 30 seconds to kill a White Wyrm. Those things are like giant mongbats these days. They go down faster than a drunk............well you get what I'm sayin'.

Another rant while I'm feeling inspired...

On the virtues of the 2D client
I've been reading Stratics a lot lately (I felt like getting my blood pressure up) and it pisses me off to no end many of the people that so viciously attack the 2D client. With great frustration I read about how supposedly terrible the 2D UI is, how "it's time for a change" etc because the graphics and the UI of 2D are terrible.

When are people going to realize that the 2D graphics and UI aren't "terrible", they're just "underdeveloped". Think about it. The 2D client is 10 years old, and any real updates have been slim. Oooo, we got a new targeting system. Big whoop. There are tons of ways to improve the 2D interface, to make it easier to use, to make it more efficient. I've been playing with that UI for years and it is in a sense a third arm to me. I am one with the 2D UI. I AM the 2D UI (well not really, but you get the drift).

Furthermore, what's with people calling the 2D client "cartoony"? Hell yeah it's cartoony. So is nearly every video game in the entire universe. Who cares if it's cartoony? 3D was cartoony. KR is cartoony. What is cartoony anyways? It's just a vague opinion that can't really be defined. What makes something more cartoony than something else? Dumb.

As far as the 2D graphics are concerned, I personally prefer them over the current KR versions. But then, I also like the color blue. And I think Coke is good and Pepsi tastes terrible. Who cares? The thing is, EA could whip out graphics that looked even worse than 2D and KR combined, and somebody would like it and think that they are superior to either.

So what's my fuss, anyhow? Look, I have no problem with the development of KR, and I'm glad for anyone that finds what they're looking for in that client. But just the idea that conceivably, the 2D client, a perfectly good client could be shut down is absolutely unthinkable. I've ranted plenty about KR but I've never said the project should be shut down. Because of this it tears me to pieces everytime I see someone praise the thought of shutting down 2D.

There is only one seemingly logical reason that 2D be shut down to make way for KR, and you'll hear it touted by plenty of people, "Well, it should be shut down so the devs can focus more resources in a single client."

Well I hate to break the news, everyone, but the problem with the game isn't the client. It's in the design of the game. All the things I ranted about in my OP. That's the problem. So now you have all these resources going into "resurrecting" the client, instead of fixing the real problems. Oops. Guess that reason is down the drain.

Hey, I don't have a problem with KR and people playing KR. So why do people have to have a problem with me merely enjoying the game I love the way I have always enjoyed it?

The Icewind Dale and Baulders Gate games will always be favorites in my book! They remind me of staying up late on warm summer nights.
