UO subscriber number has gone up slightly since it's last update.

Yay! Good to hear, I know it would have dropped a little because of loosing cheaters but they worth dropping

The good thing about UO is it has always been atleast gradual movement both up and down. Saying that I would not complain at all if it decided to buck trend in the up part

Alot of games have a bit of a downward trend as of late.

Glad to see that UO still holds it weight tho. It really is a great MMO.

WoW had a big impact in the MMOG world that is for sure, really hurt lots of games. Atleast UO was not killed though over it.

There is a reason why WoW is so popular

A) Warcraft world - eg name brand
B) Insane marketting, nothing has been spared in this department.

I know SO many people playing it here at work that have never been into gaming or MMOG's, it's their first MMOG, and its because it was advertised so much as they saw it in the local EB. They even have advertising signs out the front of some stores for the game.

The new people playing it don't know any better so they think WoW is really the only good game. (MMOG wise)

Older UO players that quit UO to go to WoW are starting to realise how much of a scripted treadmill game it is, and lots are coming back to UO it seems which is good. I know a few people in this boat, one was me.

UO offers a complete "freedom" to do whatever you choose. In WoW you HAVE to level, that is what the game is about. You don't level and your friends leave you behind.. it's as simple as that. WoW to me became hard work, it was like I was actually at work, the enjoyment really went out the window from there.

there is a rp called dofus? *giggles* anyway eve is going pretty well stedily on the climb, which makes sence its a good game but not everyones cup of tea, nice to see uo doing better and everquest bomming.. i bet that all of those people went to wow

About Dofus..it's actually not a bad looking game if you're into the softer type games (cell shaded, anime).

They still dont show guildwars We got something to the tune of 1.3 million players, and more storyline than WoW, yet we dont seem to class as a MMO on that website

I think guildwars is a "buy the game but play online for free isn't?" Maybe they mean buy the game and pay to be online type of game.. but your right that is odd I thought GuildWars IS an MMORPG?
