Mining Gemstones

I havent had to go mining in ages hence i dont know the answer to my question.

The gems you get from mining does each type of gem only spawn from certain ore types or is it totally random ?

Thanks in advance to those who offer me words of wisdom.

From what I've seen, it's totally random.

The ecru citrine is the rarest I think among the gems.

Yeah, we had a big thread thread on exactly that in the Stratics Miner Forum back when ML came out. For it me was Blue Diamonds, for another it was Perfect Emeralds...I had around 30 Emeralds and only 4-5 Blue Diamonds and he had nearly the exact opposite...

Yes, for me it was the Blue Diamonds too....when ML came out, it was taking me FOREVER to mine up enough for the Blighted Grove quest, so I ended up having to just buy the last couple. I did have a ton of ecru citrines though...ended up selling 25 at 40k each when people started realizing how valuable they are. :grin:

What about the pearls,can they only be retrieved by fishing?
