I've been chopping in skara and now yew for hours... do you have to be an elf to get something besides oak, ash and normal wood? (think i got a few yew logs too but none of the super pretty ones!!!) I'm new to lumberjackery in general help!

I got bark and some kind of fungus with a human character.

Yeah i got that stuff too, bark switch, parasitic plants and fungi... no blood, fros or that other type of wood... I wanna make pretty furniture!

Well as I understadn it the other woods are like Mining ore such as verite and Valorite.
If your elf you'll have a better chance to get these woods since it says rare resources will be found easier. So try being an elf. It couldn't hurt.

It depends on your skill

Normal wood is 0-65
Oak 65-80
Ash 80-95
Yew 95-100
Heartwood GM
Bloodwood GM
Frostwood GM

You also must hunt out and find trees that give the different woods (like ore spots these will be permenant on your shard so mark a rune when you find one).
The harder the wood the rarer it is.

Thanks flutter for the exact numbers on it. I didn't do to much with it. I have GM lumber jacking already so no worries. there. Any idea how the finding the gems work when mining?

Oh dear god I wish I had mined more!
My miner just hit 87.2 and not one gem today let me tell ya it's making me crazy.
I am starting to think you may need GM mining!
On beta I honestly just set my mining to GM and all the gems were random while mining anywhere you normally would mine.
I will let you know if I ever get any.

I mined for like 20 minutes in felucca with my non elf miner and got a saphire. I'm gm but it works, I got one

Made my lumberjack an elf lastnight still no sign of the woods I want. BOO

I lumberjacked all night after I gave up on fishing. So far I've got 17 runebooks full (Felucca Facet), everything up to bloodwood, which yeilds only a few runes itself. Any idea if frostwood cannot be recieved in Felucca? AND I'M A HUMAN. I tried mining in Prizm and a normal mountain, no special ingredients, however I did get them with LJ. Brilliant amber is by far the hardest, and you'll find bark is annoying :]

All the woods and all the gems are available on all the facets as far as I know.

During Beta, we were pulling all the woods and gems form all the facets. They are rare to find though. I was lucky, before they gave us all the woods, Twiggy would find them and share her spots with me since I had a showcase house to display all the new items.

At least switches stack now, when we started beta they didn't. Now that was annoying!. Bark is useful though for making the wood armor. Gems I would get in Delucia. I would mine the south side from the stables to the inn. I was getting about 3-4 per two passes through. Blue diamonds were a bit difficult to obtain, at least for me. Wearing a high luck suit did not appear to help with the gems or the pearls.

Brilliant Amber seemed more elusive than the gems. I did them all with GM skill so I can't speak to results at lower skills.

Thanks! I have 100.0 Lumberjacking so just waiting for the frostwood spot. Took a break for a little to circle the heartwood and bloodwood locations to get a little of that in stock. Guess I just need more patience hehe. Thank you :]
