Re: Looking to play
You get a lot of mixed attitudes in UO. Are you familiar with UO? Have you played before?
UO has really always been what we make of it. Some shards are fuller than others, some friendlier than others. All I know about really is Great Lakes. (not particularly friendly from what I've seen over the last 5 years on it...but it is home) I tried WoW and got bored very quickly. I have tried other games but none have grabbed me like UO. I guess you won't know if it is for you unless you give it a shot. ![]() Tuka ![]() ![]() Kinsmen are born. Friendship is a gift of the gods.

Re: Looking to play
Welcome to UOForums and hopefully UO.
After 77 months of almost non stop daily playing of UO I can only offer you this ... To this day I still log into UO willingly and when it is time to log out i do so with the anticipation of what tomorrow will bring while playing UO. There are many great shards to choose from, I have been lucky enough to visit all of them and have yet met any player who turned me off by their lack of civility. *Wishes I could have a vacation home on every shard!! Give it a try is my best suggestion, and if you happen to visit Sonoma, which is my home shard, please let us know and we will be happy to show you around and aquaint you to our little community ![]() |

Re: Looking to play
Awsome i might join your shard and meet you up on their and maybe make friends with you and others. I got the game a while back and tried it but i didnt know if it was all browser based or what i tried getting it into full screen but no luck. That turned me off but after that a few months later i picked up runescape and i throughly enjoyed it but it really had no purpose. So i thought maybe ultima online would be better so here i am. But i also got tired of wow and what i have heard and seen of ultima i think it should be great. You can ride horses and dragons and im not totally sure but i think theres a bunch of classes which i cannot wait to try out
. Well i got dinner plans tonight. Suspect me on about 12.Thanks all |

Welcome and enjoy:grin:
Unlike her Highness 'Queen Mum' I've only been playing for 50 straight months, only missing out when on holiday or working away, and I cannot see me finishing. ![]() Respect everyone |

WoW's community generally are disrpectful where as UO's community are usually very nice and willing to help if you need it, weather they be strangers or guildies. I Welcome you to Ultima Online! This is the game I should have been there entire time, not else where with other MMORPG's but least my curiosty is been filled. UO in my opinion is the BEST MMORPG to play, I seriously mean that. I enjoying it each and everytime I play it more and more keeps me wanting to log on for more! So what shard you from with in WoW? Myself I was from Blackhand I played as Cricket an Orc Hunter and Spookems my gnome mage. I do not regret leaving the only thing I do miss is my friends... but we keep in contact and that is good enough for me ^_^ I hope you enjoy it! It is defintally not as easy as WoW is, Wow was amazingly easy and lacked challenge and depth in my opinion. UO far harder to play, stay with [young] title as you can so you can get your bearings and understand UO easier without playing it the way the normal players are because believe me... young status drops faster than you think. For me I lost in 2 days! haha but I was on for to long having myself a blast so hehe. Young status, you will not have to insure... when you die and rez you will have all your stuff back including stuff that natrally wouldn't be there like bags and such. Bags are un-insureable so if you got regs in one of them bags you have to go to body and get it. Blessed items are "soulbound" to you so when you die they are automaticly there but this time you care "trade" blessed items unlike WoW where you couldn't. Insuring just means you will get all the stuff back that you "insured" so you do not loose it. It will take money out of your bank when you do insure and after you die. Collecting blessed items of course will be the best no have to insure and when you rez it will be right there. As a young player you will not have to worry about this so much but, do NOT go into the red portal gates! That means you go to Felucca and that is PvP! Unless you want to do stuff like that then it is okay... just don't want you to be a victum to that... some people will try to lead people into red gates without knowing what they really are. a few ways to tell weather if your in Fel or Felucca is your cursor will no longer be "golden colour" and also the trees are more bare... but the cursor really helps... Runebook, the runes are coloured by region. Normal Trammel will be purple but Felucca colours are Green so do not click there unless your are ready or want to go do PvP. There are other colours but I think those are all safe (need elder members to confirm this part for me) Repairing items you will need deeds from master crafters, you can find them on diffrent player vendors. Grandmaster and I think Master repair deeds will have the highest repairing chance. Do not repair everytime you hunt.. wait until it is ALMOST at zero and then do it... because you have a chance to loose item durabilitly. Repairing often will just make the item no last nearly as long and have to go find new armor or whatever. There is diffrent repair deeds for diffrent types of armor. Tailoring ones for leather and cloth but I never seen much cloth get damages except hats or something. Smithing ones for the plate and chain also for weapons. If you use a bow / crossbow archery repair deeds. Camping inside an inn in this game will not gain you "exp" bonus but it will log your character out MUCH faster. There is alot of other stuff but this might be easier for when your in game and people can explain and show you stuff to you and I just woke up so brain not quite working yet hehe. Anyway hope this helps some it is a very neat game! -RMS Carpathia- |
