Let's talk about - Proportions

First of all, I love UO.

Secondly, pls allow me to share my observations in KR Beta.
The big ones are:

- Why are proportions so unbalanced?
- Walls appear 3ft thick in relation to the character
- Doors appear 2 ft thick in relation to the character. Who ever uses 2 ft thick doors??
- Walls have very sharp corners. ( UO original is more curaveous and natural )
- Have you seen runes? They are huge.
- The character model doesn't seem to have improved since the last 3d attempt. Looks the same to me. Oddly awkward

- The environment
- The grass, ground, plants, houses are all suffering
- It actually hurts my eyes to play in KR, from the garbled ground
- The environment is very dim. It's hard to distinguish things

- Interface
- Nothing closes with a single right click. You have to use the X in the upper right corner.

I'm afraid the only thing I really enjoy is the great Zoom feature.

Re: Let's talk about - Proportions

Plus, any paperdoll gump you open .. like I opened tailor and smith trying to figure out how to get a Bod... lands up in the corner of the window.. and closing it twice I hit close the window.. had to relog in... That and getting a pile of gumps open when I attempt to say 'bank' and forget to hit enter. I find it rather cumbersome with little reward for my efforts. Ok.. I will hope for the best.... but my heart sinks a little more each time I log in.

I seem to be editing a lot tonight. This one is to note that I completely agree with the listing you made, saturnstroll. Proportions are definitely off and graphics are definitely blurry/disproportionate/undefined. I am beginning to feel like an Eeyore.....

I also have my heart sink each time I log in I find myself closing and switching back to 2d... Its sut so frustrating the chat system I dont like one bit I always forget to hit enter then things go crazy on ym screen haveing to hit lil x's to close..I feel they should of left some things alone there was nothing wrong with the chat system before nore was there anything wrong with right clicking to close things...I feel it is now alil confuseing im not fond of the backpack and contaniers the way it hold things I liked before when i could arrange things in chest and stuff the way i wanted them..Its hard to tell what alot of things are till u hold ur mouse over it to see...The bloodmoss looks like a bloody brain blob...

Re: Let's talk about - Proportions

Some scaling is definitely off.

I too have trouble remembering to hit enter before using chat, so all the various windows attached to keyboard shortcuts pop up as I start typing. Highly annoying - BUT that's something that I am sure I will get used to when I start playing KR full time. It's partly more confusing now because we're all switching back and forth between 2D and KR.

Lioness - have you tried switching to the "classic" container view? There's a toggle to switch between the grid view, the list view, and the old random view for backpacks and containers.

The dev team at the Chicago town hall said they're aware of the players' desire to restore right-click closing of gumps. They did not make any promises as to implementing that in KR, though.

Re: Let's talk about - Proportions

saturnstroll: totally agreed

i just finished titan quest and that is how UOKR should look. the graphics are crisp and easy to read and the lighting is awesome. In UOKR I have a hard time telling stuff apart, especially smaller objects in my house.

The interface needs a major rehaul. At least graphically - needs a proper skin and a proper font - but this should be easy to do till release

Also the animation needs work. I hate the way my character runs. The torso is fixed in space and just the legs and arms are moving. It looks like my character is hanging on strings (nevermind the pun, it's an MMO where we players control the characters after all, I just dont want to be visually reminded of this ;) )

Hit enter to chat - any way to turn this off?!
UO's great strength, especially for RP, was that you could just chat like in a chat program. No need of hitting enter or other keys to type. Not any more?

Re: Let's talk about - Proportions

May i say that on the BETA boards which i got access too , all these things have been mentioned plenty of times (they got sticky threads for all sorts of issues that need to be fixed) and they are working on them all.

Just the last 3 patches have seen major improvment on alot of things and I expect them to very soon let loose another patch that include the very VERY sought after "classic mode" that will have the old way of talking etc.

Apart from that.. I agree on the scale on alot of things need to be sorted and its mostly the items you have in your house , thats why i know they will fix it since they know how much we love our houses.
