KR Tips and Tricks
I've been compiling a little list of things I'm learning about KR as I go, so figured I'd post it here too. Will update as I add stuff (and feel free to share your tips!)
CHAT RELATED - To toggle between party and regular chat, use /p and /s respectively - Right-clicking on a chat tab allows you to configure which types of messages show up in that tab. You can also create your own new tabs. - Chat tabs can be separated and pulled apart to show multiple chat boxes. - Resize chat boxes using the triangle-ish icon in the bottom right corner of the chat box. - Enable legacy chat (if you don't like hitting enter before speaking) by ticking the legacy chat option box in User Settings under the Interface tab. LOOTING - To auto-loot an item from a corpse, right-click on the item. It will automatically go into your backpack. - To automatically put an item picked up off the ground into your backpack, pick up the item then press the "i" key on your keyboard ("i" is for "inventory"). HOTBARS - Create a new hotbar by right-clicking on an existing hotbar. You'll see an option in the pop up menu to create a new hotbar. - Move hotbars by dragging them, using the decorated rectangle at the far left or top of the hotbar (depending if the hotbar is horizontal or vertical, respectively). - Change a horizontal hotbar to vertical by grabbing the triangle icon at the bottom right corner of the hotbar. Drag downwards. You won't see any ghosted images or guides to visually show your hotbar moving, but when you let go of your left mouse button, the hotbar should realign to vertical. - Resize hotbars by dragging the triangle at the bottom right corner, smaller or larger. Again, you won't see any ghost images or visual guides to tell you it is working, but when you let go of the mouse, your hotbar should respond. NOTE ON RESOLUTION SETTINGS KR is sensitive to screen resolution settings, particularly on LCD monitors. Be sure to check 2 things to get the best picture you can out of your hardware in KR: 1. Make sure that your Windows display resolution setting matches the recommended native resolution of your monitor. Even a slight deviation from the monitor's native resolution can skew things enough to make things appear blurry. If you're not sure what the native resolution of your monitor is, consult your monitor's documentation. 2. Make sure that your KR resolution settings adhere to one of the following recommendations (either/or): a) Set KR's resolution to match your Windows display resolution (which should already be set to match your monitor's native resolution), or b) If you would like to see your Windows taskbar at all times, set KR's resolution to be one level lower than your Windows display resolution, BUT be sure to choose a resolution that maintains the recommended aspect ratio for your monitor. For example, most non-widescreen monitors have a 4:3 aspect ratio, whereas widescreen monitors often have either a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio. If you can't find the documentation for your monitor, some common resolution settings and their aspect ratios are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_resolution
