KR problems I'm encountering...

I've just freshly installed my operating system and all the appropriate drivers, flashing everything that needed flashing... etc.

Now that I've installed the Kingdom Reborn client, I'm finding two problems that immediately stand out to me. Problems that would prevent me from using the client altogether.

1) I'm crashing and overheating.
My CPU is an AMD Athlon FX-53. It's liquid cooled on a system with the graphics processor. Both run at about 44 degrees Celsius regularly and do not have any trouble overheating in any other applications or 3D games. If the KR client has been open on my computer for longer than 10 minutes, my processor is steadily overheating. Honestly, I don't even think the problems with my crashing are related to the overheating. The client just crashes when I try to log out and back in more than once.

2) The mouse wheel cannot be used as a hot key.
Without the functionality of UOAssist in Kingdom Reborn, players have no option to set the mouse wheel up and down as target self or target last... something many seasoned PvPers have accepted as the standard.

I'll post some more bugs in here as I find them. Of course, I'll submit them to OSI too... after all, they're all pretyped now, eh?

Glad i'm not the only one then
I'm running an AMD FX 55 and the CPU usage is constantly stuck at 95%-100%, the CPU Fan goes NUTS when i'm playing UOKR
Yet, when I play games which are better looking and years older (i.e WOW and other things) I don't have that problem

The crashing problem also happened to me alot to, summoning, saying bank crashed me three times, clicking menus etc.

Re: KR problems I'm encountering...

Failed Memory ...some problems and responses from Jeremy.

source UO Kingdom

Been updating drivers and this and that like alot of other people but i have a GEFORCE4 MX INTEGRATED GPU and thought i read as long as you have a GEFORCE3 or above you would be good to go,well i have all the latest drivers for the card but i failed the memory test on the EA EASYINFO...It says the game requirements are 512 and i have 448.5.....my tower says 512MB DDR SDRAM so i thought that was good to meet the requirement but it says i have 448.5....anything i can do to remedy this and maybe glimpse at the beta???

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That sounds like you have something running in memory - I know on some of the old dells the onboard video card would grab some of the system memory to use as video memory, so the system would report less system memory than it technically had. Do you know if your video card has its own video memory?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

512-448 is 64Mb... its default size of AGP aperture buffer for shared video/system memory. You may tweak this setting in BIOS but it can be risky for non technicians.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would go to Crucial for memory upgrades myself. Their little applet will tell you what you can put in and what you have. They also guarantee compatibility if you use it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Also

This is starting to get old. It crashes average once an hour. Doesn't matter what I am doing. Can't go anywhere dangerous for fear od crashing and waking up dead! Yea, I know there is insurance, but why should I have to pay out insurance every time I die because of a crash? Is anyont at EA even looking into this? Been doing it since the last patch.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I assume you're talking about KR - if not, we have a big problem KR has some crash fixes lined up for this week and we're collecting info on some others so we can get them fixed ASAP.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

No, I am talking about 2d. It has been crashing on me alot. Not sure what is causing it, but I am not the only one it is happening to. When it happens, several people in mu guild say it at the same time. They are in different locations also. This is on LS. Could be something with the server? It does it on both computers I have UO on. One doesn't have KR so it isn't from installing that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
crashing here too, on gates or teleporters in and out of peerless places only.
Windows XP (current patches)
nVidia 6800 GTO Extreme
2d Client
it's annoying but doen't happen to me more than 2 or 3x a day. rebooting fixes it so i am assuming it's some kind of memory issue.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hm, ok. Have you talked to tech support about that? It's not an issue I've heard anything about - tech support (support.ea.com) would be the first place I'd go with it.

Re: KR problems I'm encountering...

I'm running an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (2 gigs of dual channel DDR400 RAM). While KR seems to take up about 50% of my CPU load, I haven't noticed any changes in CPU temperature different from running any other app or game at full load. 256MB GeForce 6600 video card, Asus A8V Deluxe mainboard, all updated drivers.

The only client crashes I'm encountering seem to be bugs in the game and not hardware related (since they're reproducible).

I have this

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor, It's liquid cooled on a system with the graphics processor, NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI Motherboard, 1024 MB NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT. I get in and play little then it just crashes also. I beta tested many games in 3d and that is not even good 3d just bunch of issue with no end.

I just upgraded to the GeForce 7950GT video card and haven't had any new crash problems. (Just the random ones in game that seem game-bug-related). FYI.
