Ok, first things first.

If you are having a problem getting the client to run properly, start your own thread unless you see a possible fix in an existing thread.

Ill put up an FAQ as soon as I can about what we need to see in your post but off the top of my head:

System specs: Processor, RAM, Vid card, etc.
OS: Windows 98, WinME, WinXP, or Vista
Exactly where you crash: On client startup, after patch screen, after user/pass input, etc., etc.
DirectX Diagnostic but dont copy/paste results, just see if it gives you an error first, and then we will delve deeper.

Now I must go tend to my family. I will do my absolute best at checking this forum as often as possible and giving what insight I can.

buddy of mine crashes like you're describing, but hes only got 512mb of ram, i'm assuming thats his problem

I had this happening a lot.

I went into msconfig and disabled any non-essential software (especially IM daemons). I then removed and the re-installed UOKR.

Haven't had many issues since, though it still throws a wobbly occasionally.

If when trying to log into KR you are getting the microsoft error report (send, Don't send), this might help. Keep in mind your folders might not be in the same place as mine...but should be close.
1. Double click my computer
2. open owners documents
3. open EA Games folder
4. Open Ultima Online folder
5. open user Data folder
6. open the account folder you are having trouble with.
7. open the shard folder.
8. Delete the character file you are having trouble with.

Now try KR again.
I've had to do this on a few accounts...a couple of times.
