is it wrong to buy things for our charictors from websites?

Is it wrong to purchase something for a UO character, like a 120 mage scroll, from a website?
I am completely against cheating. I don’t buy UO gold on e-bay. it is just my son found a 120 mage power scroll for $25.00. So we were talking about it.
what if the thing’s they sell was acquired legally? Personally I don’t see how that would be possible, but who knows.

I’m not trying to stir thing’s up. I was hoping for an objective opinion on this.

it is possible they did a aquuire it legaly, you have to remember people will sellthings for real life cash they have brought for uo gold, some items.. such as powerscrolls or artifacts are more lucrative to sell than selling uo gold in mass amounts.

*shrug* i'ld personally never buy a uo powerscroll through a website but then i do at least a coupple fo champ spawns every week so i can get them easily enough anyway!

Hmm, well why don't you think the item or items were acquired legally?

A few websites out there buy and sell mass resources and items on a 24/7 basis, with staff and even offices.

Not everyone cheats to get their items

As for me, no I don't think it's wrong to buy stuff from websites to advance your character.

I don't see anything wrong with buying stuff for the game. If you can afford it, you can save yourself a lot of time. How many champ spawns would you have to do to maybe get the scroll you want?

I ended up buying a big lot of them on an e-bay auction, very shortly after scrolls came out. I used the couple I wanted and stocked a vendor with the rest.

I was extremely surprised to see such thing’s for sale in real life. When my oldest son showed me, I ran… to My bank card. After tripping over my other son (who was on the floor playing with the cat). We all talked about this subject. { the reason I asked you folks}
I think Some say I should just live without one If I don’t do fell champs, but I think different.
I started playing when AOS came out, In that time I have attempted one fell champ… with two guild mates from Atlantic. the spawn over run us, and we saved our skin and left.
My play style does not fit well with your average fell champ I think, so I would need to buy a power scroll if I wanted one.
Thank for your thoughts…

To me, its no different buying somethin wioth cash than buying it with gold. You make gold by investing time....the same way you make money at work, no?

The only problem I see is with the extreme...spending alot of cash on game stuff. Same could be said for spending too much time on UO, heh.

I don't see a problem with it.

For example Sony set up an actual EQ shop where you could buy ingame items for real money.

Re: is it wrong to buy things for our charictors from websites?

Guess I'll be the annoying minority and state I don't believe buying in game advantages for RL cash is a good thing.

The way I see it the game should work as a closed economy of its own, without outside influence like that which comes from the real world economy. It just feels wrong to me that folks can simply buy their way into things without working for it in game. Sure, in the real world money talks and bull*** walks, but since UO still is a game and not the real world, some idealism could be applied.

Buying stuff from websites is no problem per se, it's just buying for RL cash. Buying stuff with UO gold is fine and dandy.

Aaaaand this was once again just how I feel about it all, I'm not gonna even try to tell you what YOU should do

Re: is it wrong to buy things for our charictors from websites?

I hear what youre saying Adrianna, but lets say a person can only play UO for 2 hours a week; should they be denied what they want or have to wait till the end of days to get it? Or should they be able to throw 20 dollars at it instead of a few months of their play time?

I personally bout gold on 2 occasions and grabbed a +15 Smithy scroll off of Ebay as gift for a friend once too.
