Well, I was on Siege doing a little mining...and when I return to Luna to hit the Inn and call it a day..what do I see?! An imposter no doubt! Some Trajan Claudius hanging around the bank area. Well, considering he is a Glorious Lord, I can't actually call him an imposter...but, he is! Anyway, the real Trajan on Siege is no where near being a Glorious Lord...actually, he is quite disreputable and a thief. Not a very good one but one none the less.

Have you run across any other folks using your name!! Don't let them ruin your rep, in my case, improve your rep LOL!

I always give my characters both a first and last name, so chances of running into someone with the exact identical name are next to nil unless someone deliberately does create an imposter char. The names aren't taken from movies or books either so if I'd see someone with the same name, I'd know for sure they're up to no good.

I've seen the same first or last name on occasion but never the exact same full name.

Ive seen a guy on Baja with the same name as my crafter before, The Dude, but he spells them with no caps on the T and D, he is a swordsman, so I know he is out there more than I am. He must have been a fan of Big Lebowski too! hehe..

I have the same problem. I started UO as the only Niles in existence. but last time i checked there were quite a few of my name out there. I never did think about giving last names on character. I didn't think the name process was long enough for it when I created my first characters 5 years ago. I do say I have two Niles one is my thief and the other is my crafter. but as soon as I can get teh gold my crafter's name is going to chance along with many other characters will be getting last names as soon as I can come up with one.

I sort of wished there was a check of the database when a player creates there character so that mistaken identity could be avoided. On Siege it could be disasterous if somebody with the same name were to act in a way which is unlike somebody else with the same name since reputation is vital there. Somebody came to Siege and named their character "Castor" unaware that there was already a very established and respected player by the same name. They were accused of pet whacking people in Luna and it took quite a bit to sort it out. Luckily the second Castor admitted it wasn't intetional and had named her character after her main on another shard unaware that there was already a Castor on Siege. Had the game mechanics stopped her during character creation, the situation and many like it, would have never happened.

I always check uo.com to see if there are any other chars with the same name as mine, fortunately, no one's thought of using the same name yet.

To the best of my knowledge all my character names are unique, but I have to admit I've never checked for them on other shards.

"Terrance Drith" was very much my own creation, and yes I have been impostered. So badly that over a year & a half later I still have people walking up to me in-game, telling me I'm scum for such things as making fun of how their RL relative died from cancer. Some lovely psychotic people out there.

Kudos to Lead GM Platinum though, for fixing the situation after communicating with me over e-mail about it back when it was going on.

Coolest impersonations in UO ever:
I was on Test, last year sometime, and witnessed "Lurd Buckthorn" fighting "Lard Brifish" at the Brit gate. Fake acting and all.

I wish they only let one name per server like so many other games. It is a hassle during character creation but I like it better in the long run.

WoW does it and they have over 5 million folks, don't know ow many per server but that is a lot of unique names.

I was making a new character on City of Villains the other day and it took over an hour to find an unused name! But I know I am the only Yamaraja there (yep, Yamaraja, the bringer of death!)

Well, I don't necessarily like one name on a server...I have about 3 characters named Santiago on one. I just think it is funny and potentially annoying if there is another character with your name running around. For instance, if your name has always been Bascilicus Rex (mine on DAoC when I played it) and then you come to a new game and bam! It is taken...that is a bit of a bummer. Hmm, I have never seen that name running aroud on UO. I guess it is time for a new Warrior.

Has happened to me sooo many times! I get ICQ's from people saying "hey did I play with you in such and such shard?" And I see Cobra Commanders all the time! Just nothing to do about it Except look for a hard hard name. Me coming up with a G.I. Joe figure, isnt a real creative name, so alot of people would have it

There's a way to check this???? I gotta go try that! I know that there are a couple more 'Bronwyns' somewhere... but for the most part I think I am unique... I bet there is at least one more Snowy somewhere.. BUT my character name is actually SnowyOwlet, so that's not likely.
