I'm feeling pretty apathetic about UO.

My friend was nice enough to send me a DVD with KR on it. Why? I was on dial up only at the time. Now I've got Verizon DSL. Anyway, when I try to login KR, the patcher just freezes. *shrugs*

Lately, I've been too caught up with investing in an Apple II GS and the various parts needed to make file transfers from my PC to it possible. Then I found a cooler IIGS on an auction that actually had a built-in hard drive: a rarity for computers back in those days.

I'm sorta impatiently waiting to play such classic games as the Uninvited, Shadowgate, California Games, etc. etc. etc. on my classic machine. I even bought my first Mac: a LC III. The Mac was only ten bucks plus S/H. I'm waiting on a monitor adapter so I can actually turn the darn Mac on.

Why am I shopping for old stuff? Because I traded my UO addiction for a vintage computer one it seems.

Heh, I went through that phase once, I was half tempted to order an Amiga 1200 from Ebay
I loved the Amiga series of computers.

Speaking of which, the games I listed above were mostly ported onto NES from computers. So an 8-bit videogame console was running games made for a 16-bit computer.

Who even knows if they still use bit-counts to describe modern consoles?

Actually almost all of the old console, and 8 & 16 bit platforms out there now... can run on your Windows PC. There is an emulator out there for just about all of them.

The old Ultimas were fun. But there were some other great games too... like Archon, BattleChess, Ballblazer, Wizardry, Universe, Rescue On Fractalus, MIDIMaze, The Three Stooges, Barbarian... and countless others.
