I quit in 2003 when I deployed for 6 months, I didnt know much about the game and got reallllllllllllllllly bored. While deployed I read up on stratics and found out what I was missing and wanted to rejoin when I got home. Luckily I did not own a home, so I didnt lose anything. I had just the armor I wore and a few k in the bank.

Back when i quit UO 5 years ago, it happened over a 2-3 month period. I had started playing EQ, and completely neglected my account outside of logging in to refresh my house. I eventually just cancelled my account one day without actually "preparing" anything, thinking i would never come back.. Well that was the end of a house full of rares, 5 million in checks, OH SO MANY KEGS/POTIONS from thieving/looting around yew (which is near impossible these days... hi 1shotthiefkill... beep the new game) My ice staff collection, My globe collection (I have not seen any normal globes around these days.. were they deleted from the game or something? I had a beep..I am not talking about "snowy scene". I mean the ones that used to sit around outside brit bank rotting away. ) And my "wall of staves" where ~50 ice staves created a wall of my house. A runebook library to just about anywhere, my dye tub collection, an ethy llama... The list goes on.

I regret not packing up my crap before quitting. When i logged back in about 2 weeks ago, i logged into characters in full 5 year old crap armor, with 1-2 blessed holiday items each sitting in the inventory. Luckily my tamer had a 1 mil check in the bank to get me started (which immediatly went into placing an 18X18 house and customizing it up ;D cant believe i found that spot.) And my old pets were still alive.. though only one is alive now... old WW dont put up much of a fight nowdays!

Suprisingly though, i lucked out. Day 7 coming back from my 5 year break, i was wandering luna when someone asked "any new players out there?". I jumped in saying i was coming back from a 5 year break, and yeah i looked like a total idiot in my full suit of cloth armor with no stats. Another guy also jumped in with me. The one looking for newbs opened a gate to fellucca, and told us to jump in. Expecting some pvp finally (I had been searching for it) I went right for the gate. The first thing he does is hand me a legendary, 1 mil check, and an ethy horse. (he also does the same for the other guy) He then co-leaders us to his house and tells us to go on a looting spree. This nearly decked out my tamer, got me several slayer weapons for my archer, filled 2 chests with holiday items, got several rares/artifacts. Another million check, and much more ;D

The day after i was thinking i was a god once again.. until i started strolling luna. Hi 50millionforonefreakinpositem. Hi 3000000 for nonartifactarmor. Hi 4000000 for a ring that matches the stats i just found off a zombie in moonglow. Pricing in this game is disgusting now days.

Well there you go, first/last impressions. PACK UP YOUR beep IF YOU THINK YOU ARE QUITTING! It will bite you in the ass in the future if you decide to return. Don't pull a me and think you never will.. theres alwasy a chance.

I tried to leave, years ago... Gave away everything I had at the time.

Finally, fate brought me back after a whole half a year.

I left for almost 2 years. I reactivated my accounts about 6 months ago and have just not been able to get into the game, mostly because there is no one to play with I'm sure i'll be tempted again, maybe in another 2 years.

In that 6 months i've aquired a bunch of 8th age rewards & spring decor items & scrolls & armor that i think is semi good now, Im mostly tempted not to bank it, seeing as my Vanq Silver weapons are worth crap now.

Ohh I hate that!!! ... sorry you need to take a break again.. but that's understandable... What is not understandable it why they broke our beautiful Vang weapons.. and Silver!!!! OMG I had let that slip from my conscious mind... when I saw the 'new' way they showed in game...

When you quit, you can load up your bank on each char, then load up a beetle for each one too.

I quit for a year and didn't expect to come back. I was happy that my chars were still there, and my pets, but I lost all else. Some of those things were important to me, given by RL friends and such. *sigh*

Anything really important to you, keep it. If it can be replaced easliy, sell it and bank the gold.

Load a beetle? You can't stable loaded pets... Oh.. i guess if you were on it when you went into 'stasis'.... :embarasse

Ive quit and played since 98 i dont think you ever leave.What usually happens is my friends and I get drunk and are playing pool and then were like hey dude you rember when i had that demons breath katana and you had your archer/mage and we went newbie killin.Then next week we all ended up signing up.The best thing is lol i called him up and hes like i jsut signed up and i go noway me too and then we both go crap its begun again the addiction.But yeah bank gold and rares/arties then lets it go.
