The rule actually only really applies to large conflicts against the same group.
Example:
In theory, orcs could attack Trinsic, and be driven off. The deathrobes are to mark that they have been defeated in the current action, to avoid a grind of constantly ressing players, and to protect the players from being attacked again (you wouldn't attack a casualty, really). These same orcs could, in theory, go to Vesper, and attack there.
You cannot attack the West gate of Trinsic, then attack the South gate. Unless it is a part of a GM agreed ongoing battle.
