Just finally bought Modains Legacy and need a class cause my guy on trial wasnt what i wanted (warrior).

Im thinking of a Sword using tamer. Or a magic using tamer. or a Ninja with magery what would be best?

Feel free to give me a better idea of a class??

Look there are no classes!

Your character can have 7 skills (each skill maxs at 100) for a total of 700 skill points

If you go to the test center shard make a new character there, once your character is in read the journal (which is alt+j if your in the 2D client) you will find the help commands there.

I believe it is help skills then pick 7 from that list for example a normal warrior would be like: 100 swordsmanship
100 tactics
100 anatomy
100 healing (to use bandages)
100 magic resist (to take less damage from spells cast on you)
100 parry (to block some damage with a shield)
50 magery (to cast recall,and lower healing spells)
50 whatever you want cause I have no idea I have not played this type of basic character in years

Also please I have seen you ask many threads, And I have no problem answering them, if I know the answer. But could you please, reply to your other questions so I and the other forum members know that you have read the answers and if those answsers generated more questions ask in the as thread. Cause I have replied to several of your questions and I ask myself, did he read that? Was my answer clear enough? Is he still confused?

Thats the nice thing about UO and in some ways a frustrating point. You can literally be what you like but some skills need others to support them, to make them more effective.

Warriors are good for getting initially going as they dont cost any upkeep like Mages need regs for example ( unless someone is nice enough to give you a decent 100% lrc suit).
Tamers are probably the best for hunting with especially if Elven as they can use the elven dogs which are very strong when tamed. But taming takes a long time to train and its very dull going getting there i found.
Archers are also nice if kitted out with Chivalry and Bushido.

If your looking to run a mage/tamer template here's where you would start:

100 Animal Taming
100 Animal Lore
100 Veternary
100 Magery
100 Meditation
100 Evalutate Intellgience

For your stats points distrubute all your points between strength and intelligence. Keep your dexterity at 10 as you won't be needing it.

This is only 600 skills, leaving room to get power scrolls (which allow you to go above the 100 skill cap).
BE AWARE - tamers to a long time to train up and may not be the most fun character to start with. They are very fun when you get high taming and can control powerful pets, but it takes a lot of patient to get that high.... I have a tamer that I use almost excluisvely, but like everyone else it seems, i started with a warrior.

As long as it's not in Fel, Adrianna Seriously though, taming is a serious pain to train, but the pets at high levels are very rewarding. A bushido warrior would probably produce more results quickly for your first character, in which I would suggest:
120 Bushido
120 Weapon skill of choice
120 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Healing
65 Chivalry
120 Parrying
95 Resist
This is obviously shomething to shoot for, there are several million gold in powerscrolls there, and on Pacific they aren't cheap, thanks to me and my guildmates. However, 110s are relatively inexpensive after you've been playing for a couple months. there are variations to this template, persoanlly, I'd probably ditch resist and 120 the rest because I like Holy Light, but that's the beauty of Ultima, many ways to make very similar characters, and even more ways to customize dress, house, etc. PM me if you need a house as I know several good Felucca locations (and no, I won't kill you)

Since he's a new player i'm sure he only has 700 skill cap. With this template.... how can you have all those skills with a skill cap? Gems and all i guess?

If you really want to make a tamer mystery323x and you plan on taming your
own pets I highly recommend a peace tamer..much easier for taming difficult pets such as dragons, white wyrms, rune beetles and such
start with
100 taming
100 lore
100 vet
100 music
100 peace
100 magery
100 med.
but those are only suggestions...If i were you i'd do like warsong suggested
and go to test shard and try out different templates and see which you like best..of course once you decide you will want to raise taming and lore to 110
if possible to be able to use cu sidhes and some other pets that require more than 100 skill
