Aye that just sucks. It is one reason I do not display my old old time not duped rares. I got them when the game opened to the public. I try to keep a low profile on how much gold and actual ubber items I have its just like waving a bag of $1million in Downtown Detroit near Heart Plaza.

The Small Treasure boxes only so many of those spawned on Chesapeake and I know for a fact Gwydion and myself got all of them.

So wouldnt be to hard to track those down.

the only thing i can say is i was having issues at my house a few months ago where things were going missing - whole chests of things - and i never figured out what was going on.

Now it makes me wonder if someone snagged some items.

Hmm... possibly, or if you don't remember to lock stuff down the stuff will poof when the server restarts. :/ Kinda sucks, if you do a lot of moving and such and have a customizable house then putting it in customize mode will put anything not locked down under your sign.

Oh and in response to all the character transfers . . .
it isnt a totally awful thing - there are some people that use it in an alright manner.
When my husband started playing he was on a different shard then I am (because at the time we didnt have any open slots on the account) - but when we were able to get the next new slot he transferred his character over so that he could have 'a place to lie his head' (aka a house to go to) and anjoy all the things I was doing with me.

Now also mind you he was only playing for about a month or two when he transfered so its not like he was taking years and years of items with either.

I am sad to read all these issues of theft running rampant in this game. I have been away from it for years now, but my hubby and son play all the time. We have had an account on UO since the beta testing period. I am kind of surprised it took this long to be hacked into though. We have been in touch with the local authorities here and are charging the scum that hacked into the account. Our case is easy open and shut though since the guy was a moron and in the account info when we got the account back it had his name and phone number and a quick click on bigbook.com gave us the info that he still lives with mommy and daddy and their names and address on the phone number, and a call to mommy confirmed it all.

Don't you just love to see it when the smarty pants "hackers" have no common sense??

We may disagree on reds, but I agree with you here.

Most MMO "hackers" are idiots. They use trojans to get information, or social networking, and then when they do the hacking the never cover their butts. Its very very easy to get information. Also, with the current identity theft issues in the US I'm sorta surprised EA hasn't taken a stronger stance against people who hack.

There is a possibility EAM could become liable... -.- Slim, and it would take a lot of court work but... its possible.

If this is the truth, you could do a little social engineering to try and get information on his account. As in the log in and password? Especially if he's using mommy and daddys CC. Its really easy. Call them up, explain to them that you're an employee of said company and there is an issue with the account in question. Play your cards right and it wouldn't be too hard... not that I've done it... ever.

Lol I am not going to do anything illegal either. I will ruin his reputation in game now that I know that his character's name is LEE in game. Just know that LEE on Atlantic shard is a 20 yr old thief and loser from Wisconsin living with mommy and daddy.

Well... the best thing about social engineering is if done from a phone that can't be ID'd, then its pretty much trackless. Although, its still illegal but, some social engineers are so good that they can get information without even lieing... :p
