Re: I just have to vent somewhere

which with the brokering and buying a vet account etc brings us back to the whole Origin/EA/Mythic should have always upheld their proprietary rights like Blizzard has and never allowed RMT for items in game. I consider this fairly equal with xferring as a major downfall over the years.

The best way to prove me wrong is saying 'Pfffft' 'ROTFLMAO' '500 gazillion gp!' 'I think NOT'.

I welcome/enjoy a discussion, but not 'the sky is green, LOL, HAHA, I win'. You might disagree on my points, but I at least tried to explain how I look at it.

you provided no facts, only opinions to back up your side, Pio did, too. Incidentally, how long have you been playing UO, Kaj?

Regarding powerscrolls, Xfers were bad for the casual player too.

Smaller shards are being farmed by one or two dominant guilds, who sell the scrolls to a broker, that xfers them to the shard with the most buyers.

Small shards suffer from this.

Last time I ran around DF there were plenty of scrolls for sale on DF in Luna. In fact at pretty reasonable prices too. The fact that some folks xshard some scrolls out to other shards, means the casual players on other shards (where the scrolls spawns are camped and dominated even more vigorously) will be able to buy the scrolls for a better price, seeing as the extra supply from other smaller shards will keep the prices in check, and ensures the dominating guilds on those crowded shards do not have a price monopoly (as was the case on the EU shard for a short while).

Please read my post again. There are several things I state that aren't really biased or opinionated. The market prices have adapted to a global price level. I spend 90% of my UO time trading and analysing price levels. Before I took my UO hiatus, I was one of the biggest collectors on the Europa shard and experienced many pre-xshard problems first hand. I have been playing off and on for about 9 years. But the days pre-xshard limited you to dealing with the same people with the same rares. It also meant that certain items were very expensive on 1 shard, but very cheap on another. Now with the global economy there's more of a level playing field.

I typed a lot more, but realised that this isn't the right topic to start ranting/discussing, seeing as the core is about a poor hacked guy, that had his items stolen.

Can we then agree that small shard suffer from this, since powerscrolls ARE removed from these shards, hence making the supply smaller?

No,
-Without xshards the supply would more vulnerable to monopoly. A single guild would more easily be able to dominate the spawn and thus charging whatever they please. With xshards people would start xsharding in new scrolls and undercutting the dominating guild/people should they impose high prices, thus driving prices down. Should there be no dominating guild and xshards, yes, the prices would be lower.
-There are scrolls available on DF, of course less than for example Atl, but that's mainly due to it being a smaller shard, meaning less people; less suppliers, less buyers.

Re: I just have to vent somewhere

Your argument is invalid, as people don't xshard to places to lower the prices of scrolls, they xshard scrolls to the areas where the market value would cause the scroll to be higher priced than where they were coming from.

Also, with xshard, guilds that are not native come in and overpower the native guilds, thereby breaking down the native economy of xyz shard. The gold and items then go offshard, further diminishing an area that now has disheartened native guilds/players.

Re: I just have to vent somewhere

Kaj, do you really beleive, that guilds are playing one shard and one shard only?

Some guilds farm/raid more than one shard, so the monopoly is already in place to a certain extent.

Do you also Xshard to undercut others rares prices, or do you xshard to where you can get the most for your rares?
