I think as a one of the newer members of the rare's community, that we should blacklist his museum and make sure that he will not be able to deal those items to anyone.

I should have stated it more clearly. IF he is found by the community to be the one who hacked the account than he should be blacklisted.

This really, really sickens me. I have walked in that particular Museum so I know what your talking about... I wish there was a way to put an end to the hackers or better protect our accounts..... When someone gets hacked like this it not only effects the one who lost items but the entire community... the more the hackers feed the greed and the more often they get away with things like this the more likely they are to continue...

It's my firm belief that soon the only ones left in UO will be the worst of the hackers and the most diehard of the players..... how long do you suppose it will take until the only ones left are the hackers and exploiters? How long before all the legitimate players have left in frustration? When things like this happen it's extremely difficult to rebuild that trust and loyalty to UO and the love of the game that has been shattered. I know that after losing things that I have cared for and worked hard for its very difficult... The game is forever changed.... I'm sure they feel as violated as you would walking into your own home and finding that you've been the victim of a breakin... How is this much different? Certainly it's only pixels you say.... But was this not their passion? If they had had a passion for RL things such as paintings, jewlery, electronics and someone stole them, does it make the crime any less offensive???

I suppose I should breathe a sigh of relief that I haven't really anything of interest or value really in game.... and that I can't afford to buy super rares.... but really a collection of rares that is hosted by individuals belongs to the community.... and it is the community that loses when things like this happen.... If these items were taken from another shard then it is that entire community that has lost something special... many of these things are rare moments of history..... Unfortunatly when things like this occur much of that history is lost... forgotten.... certainly the new owners don't have a clue the significance of many of the items other than their uniqueness....

I feel for the loss to the community.... and I'm saddened to know of ill gotten gains... Part of the responsibility for this lies in those who deal in rares.... truely it is buyer beware... for what you covet may bring your downfall and if the previous owner was not safe from such a crime how can you truely be sure that you are??? Perhaps if those dealing in rares were more concerned about how the rares came upon the market these sort of crimes would no longer be profitable. I put it to you then that perhaps if EA will do nothing about the crimes that the community that drives them should. Perhaps more of us should take a stand against such crimes... Lodge complaints.... give feedback... raise our collective voice.... let the company know that we are NOT pleased and the time for turning your back on the community and allowing such things to continue is past.... You would think 10 years of loyalty would be worth more.... If UO is to last another 10 years it must do somthing. This is just how I feel and right now my feelings aren't good. And my outlook to the future of UO is not very bright...

Thanks Merth it's the reason I question every day why I still do..... Each passing day my community shrinks..... one by one my friends have gone.... slowly my heart is dying... My compassion for the game and the community shrinks with each passing day.... But yet I search and I search and no where do I find anything that can fill the void of UO... So I remain..... and I remain Vocal.... I raise my voice as loud as I can.... and declare my passion for the game and I try to open the eyes of those around me to the injustice of the realm... I long for a day when either my voice is heard by those who can effect change.... or in the very least another MMO comes along that can fill the void, though I have my doubts it will fair any better against the onslaught of corruption.

and I sit here helping others when I can and putting up with Dip ...contributing to the community in a way which satisfies me without as much heartache

Aye, I haven't been in UO in over 7 months and my account expired 5 months ago. I'll still help out any that I can, but UO isn't what it used to be for me so I moved on.

And Merth does a good job putting up with me.

Manticore, the museum I believe you're refering to is owned by "Of the Ring" if Im not mistaken.

I'm not sure of his background but I've talked to him off and on over the past year. He seems legit and sincere but who am I to judge?

I've even sold him a few things over the past year he paid retail for but that doesn't mean he isn't what I think hes not.

He told me he traded for all his stuff. Hes pretty nice when you talk with him ingame and he seems pretty devoted. I can't vouch for him but I don't believe hes the guy who hacked your friend.

And Elbryan, being new to the community and judging someone off hand is probably an easier way to get into the blacklist. If you don't know how someone obtained his/her items and immediatly yield "blacklist", you're throwing out accusations that are potientially false.

It takes strong evidence to prove someone obtained the items through questionable methods. Otherwise, how do you prove he didn't buy them with his own gold or bought them with cash?

Here is how I see it. The hacker openly had those items up for sale on Europa or UOAuction2. Everyone who bid on any of the big items got outbided by crazy amounts from someone no one knows. If it was 1-2 items then yes I agree with you but when the combination of items that I know for sure I sold them to shows up all at the same place when the original owner got hacked out his accounts something doesnt look right. You can say "well what if this person bought them all from the hacker?" If that is the case why would the hacker even bothered to put up the items up for auction and made sure no one won it? And if they don't belong to the Hacker what are the chances of someone out of the blue drop down that type of money to buy out an entire collection without consulting any other rare dealers or known collectors. I mean no one I know knew this had happend and I know a lot of rare collectors.

So, if he wasnt the Hacker, then he bought the entire collection from the Hacker. Do you think he wouldnt' know what he was buying? here is the kicker. that luna house was in the same auction by the Hacker.

Now of course the owner doesn't have to do a thing, but I would LOVE to see him come on this board and explain how he ended up with those combination of items.

I assume its possible but I know about a few months ago he didn't have any of those items. But I noticed a change too when he started openly wearing new items and asked how he aquired'em.

Only thing he said was he got a lot of stuff out of a huge deal. So I guess at this point it could go both ways.
