Re: I installed I tested and I am not installing the Final Release.
*Looks at watch...* Hm...still patching...
![]() Concerning what Kit said about upgrading her graphics card, I'm currently using a GEForce 6600, and things seem fine for me, I can only imagine how awesome an upgrade would make things look. I guess being more a casual gamer, and that I've been only messing around with the KR beta client for a week or two, and really have barely left my house in game (can never quite commit to a design!), I'm still getting reacquainted with the interface. I definitely see the potential in this overhaul. Here's just a few things that are a bit frustrating in game that maybe some of you have or have not encountered: - I've had few instances of actual "crashes", however, what consistently happens about a half hour to an hour of play time, is that my pointer will disappear and become a "ghost" where it's not visible but i can still highlight things on the UI as if it were there. Nothing a quick restart of the client won't fix, but still annoying. - House customization. IMO i know this is definitely an area where a lot of fixes have been implimented in previous patches. When customizing, or even when not, the tiles of the first floor all default to that dead grass look. In customization mode, the eyedropper tool will bring back the display of the original tiles, but don't know of a quick fix on doing it out of customization mode. Weird! - "Say" Macros not having enough text space. This one had been mentioned in another thread, and is the biggest pain when really needing to make an "i wish to lock this down" macro. It's also not that similar case in the 2D client macros where you just can't see the last part of what you type in; there simply is not enough space. Hopefully this will get fixed. That's all that comes to mind ATM....ah! the patch is finished! Well, all in all, i'm keeping an open mind about KR.

Re: I installed I tested and I am not installing the Final Release.
Also of note on the blurry textures. Anyone playing on an LCD and running the game full-screen at ANYTHING other than the native resolution of the LCD will cause it to look blurry. This will be worse/better depending on the quality of the monitor.
This would also stand for your windows desktop as well. Most standard LCD's are meant to run at 1280x1024 and anything else will cause some blur. So if your desktop was set to say, 1024x768 there would be some blur that would carry over to the game. Last edited by Emmortal; 23rd June 2007 at 09:33 AM. |

Re: I installed I tested and I am not installing the Final Release.
I must say that yesterday's patch has me VERY excited. I played for over 3 hours straight without crashing a single time. (Remember, kids, this is BETA software! Not some cool sneak preview! It's UNFINISHED!)
The new brightness levels make a WORLD of difference in clarity (though I'm sure there is a lot of low-res placeholder art in some places, like emmortal said). The dev team has addressed a boatload of usability concerns, such as implementing legacy chat options (where you don't have to hit the enter key to speak), and enhancing the new KR style chat to make it more usable (the SAY: prefix, and color coding). Now that I am finally to the point where I can PLAY KR instead of just wandering around trying to figure it all out, I really enjoy the new user interface. It is so much more configurable than the old interface. It just takes time to learn all of the options and find what works for you. By the way - emmortal - there is an option to toggle your inventory view. There are 3 views - the grid, a list, or the old freeform view where you put stuff wherever you want it (like in 2D). There's a little button at the top left corner of each open container. Use that button to toggle through the views. I'd bet for at least 80% of all user interface complaints about KR, there is an option to tweak it to the person's liking - it's just that users either don't know it or haven't taken the time to find it. With yesterday's patch, I am VERY excited. KR is finally playable, to me, and I'm enjoying it immensely. Granted, I still report a few bugs every time I play - but remember. We are BETA TESTERS!! Our job is to FIND bugs and REPORT them. KR isn't supposed to be a smooth and glorious experience right now. It's supposed to be buggy. Go forth and find and report bugs! Let's make this a fantastically stable release when KR comes out!

Re: I installed I tested and I am not installing the Final Release.
LOL glad to help!
Honestly, I think I might like the grid view IF (and only if!) they make it so that you can place an item in a particular grid and it STAYS there (instead of it auto-organizing it for you). As is, that part is frustrating.

Re: I installed I tested and I am not installing the Final Release.
and IF you could tell what the item was by looking at it, that would help... but I will never like the grids for my use... I really NEED my containers to be organized to my standards... call me compulsive but that's the way it goes with me.

Re: I installed I tested and I am not installing the Final Release.
My thought is that IF the grid remembered where you put things, I could stick to my usual routine of having bags within the container, and one item outside the bag representing what's in the bag.
If it was possible, I would probably use 2 columns of the grid on the left - with a bag in the first column and an item in the 2nd column, then leave the middle column empty for separation, then use the two right columns for another set of bags/items. As is, the grid won't let you place things in specific squares, so it doesn't work.

Allowing you to use specific spaces would take it from a system I can't stand to something that I think would be great for organization freaks like myself ![]() |

I really hope they turn it into a sticky grid that remembers where we place stuff. Please please please!!! I might like that even more than the random backpack ![]()

Hm is it me or does the free form inventory needs the items look a bit bigger in it? (Not in general, just in there)
