I find it kind of funny....
that the new UI in KR is almost exactly the same as the UI in World of Warcraft. Sure the textures are different, but their placement, design and buttons are almost exactly the same.
also, what's up with the slotted backpack? Standard Ultima inventory management has always been the best IMO. Slotted just makes it too cumbersome especially with the amount of items you can carry in UO. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think they said there will be three different types of backpacks that you can have. The classic view is one of them. Slotted and List are the other two. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I personally am looking forward to this change as it is a real pain reorganizing your backpack after you die...no more wasting time sorting thru things and straightening them back up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Okay first, as other people have said, these UI features have been present in many games long before WoW. Secondly, these days most MMOs look similar because they're all pretty standard features that you can't really run a MMO without. Besides, the idea behind this client is so that it looks and feels similar to other MMOs to allow players seamless transition between games. You must realise that the new players of today are not the former new players of yesteryear; they expect different things and modern features that they've effectively been used to. This update of the client very much brings UO up to par with your standard, modern MMOs out there on the market today. That's very much a good thing in my eyes, although I recognise the importance of keeping UO "UO." Of course, there's also been mention by several people that the new client will have plenty of legacy switches to allow us older players to keep as many of the features that we're used to as possible, so that's always some words of reassurance to fall back on if you see something new which you may not immediately like the sight of. I think after playing with a few of these new features yourself, however, you'll probably get used to them and like them but, if not, there's always the legacy options as I've mentioned. Looking forward to the new client! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
