Howdy :)

Hi All

After about 7 years away from UO playing other mmo's I've been having the real urge to visit UO as the game that got me into mmo's and to this day I still think the game I had the best experiences in. I have lost my original discs and my original account details so I am currently in the process of downloading the 14 day trial (well trying to anyway, as it keeps erroring ), though at this rate it might be more like a 10 day trial by time I actually get the blinkin thing downloaded and then patched hehe. I am downloading the UO Gold trial as it seems to be the only one that 'touch wood' is hopefully going to complete, I tried the UO KR from the recommended UO sites but every one of them kept erroring so I had to give up. If the current Fileplanet download fails again can anyone recommend a site that downloads a UO client. Also does anyone know if the Fileplanet download is the 2D or 3D client of the game? I don't mind either to be honest but it would be nice to know which to expect

I found these forums which have been great at refreshing my memory, though I think I will need to classify myself as a newbie as there are so many things that sound totally alien since when I stopped playing which I think my game was a copy of UO:R and was it New Dawn or something had just come out?

I now live in New Zealand so was wondering are there any servers that have an oceanic community or should I just pick one of the busier servers, and if so which are the busiest servers? And as I will be starting totally afresh and probably not having a clue what I am doing what would people recommend as good skills to start of with for a casual player who just loves exploring

Opps, sorry for rambling on, just really looking forward to getting into UO again, hopefully sometime soon hehe. Thanks very much for any advice though

Re: Howdy :)

I beleive there is still an Oceania server for ya. Atlantic is probably the busiest. From what I hear, Lake Superior, Europa, and Chesapeake are great too. As far as downloading goes, I'm afraid I can't be of much help. I got back in after a 4 year break but still had the CD with the client on it. It was easy to install that and just let it patch for a few hours.

If you choose atlantic, let me know! I'm a more casual player and I'm always looking for stuff to do in the game with the bits and pieces of time I have here and there to login.

Re: Howdy :)

Thanks for the welcome

Well everything sped up and the game downloaded and is patched already so I have just created a character to get used to the interface again, but one question and I am probably being a real numpty here but is there a way of getting the game to full screen size? I think my screen is a 17'' but it is in a window about say three quarters the size of the screen and I cant get it to go any bigger, or is this just the way it is I so can't remember

Re: Howdy :)

Tallia, the easiest way to get to full-screen is by hitting Alt+Enter. Hit it again to exit full-screen mode.

Re: Howdy :)

Thanks for that

Sorry, one more question .... does UOAM still work? I have downloaded it and noticed it doesnt have New Haven showing, but is it for the most part still accurate enough to give me a rough idea of where I am once I get off Haven?

yes UOAM still works, but only with the 2D client. If you are using the KR client it does not work.

There was a "fix" to the map files for new haven posted here, I do not recall where on the forum it was. I did not really pay that much attention as I never used UOAM ever. Maybe someone else can point you in the right direction.
