I have both GM+ necro and SS in a mage. The only thing I use occationally is to summon wisp for more mana. I'm thinking whether to drop them and take up other skills. I want to know how you use the necro spells in PvM situation to take full advantage of the skills.

I've never used necro in PvM. I find it really useful in fel at a spawn, the wither. but for anything higher than lvl 3, its kinda pointless. Necro would be a good skill if they had put a little more thought into it. But when you look at the other skills like chiv, they have their limitations. So over all its well balanced. There's no template i can think of thats over powered. I suppose you can corpse skin a monster then use fire ele's on it. That should take it down a little faster. I'm not sure what else you can use necro for apart from in fel. The main problem with necro's is the negative karma, there is an awful lot in tram that will attack negative karma players. Sorry.

You can corpse skin monsters, you can pain/poison strike. You corpse skin them, then you flamestrike. The corpse lowers their fire resist big time. There is a use for every spell except exorcism in pvm. You just gotta figure out what you like and how well it does.

Corpse Skin + Flamestrike + Ogre Slayer Spellbook = about 150 points of damage on an Arctic Ogre Lord with around 105 Eval and very little SDI if any.

Lich Form is great if your working Inscription or are in a spot where getting hit is fairly unlikely. Its worth something ridiculous, like 13 MR, but it also slowly saps your HP and it will take it all the way down to 0. You wont die unless you get damaged by something though...

Summoning a Horde Minion Familiar is kinda neat. They act like a pack animal but can only carry around 400 stone.

Dropping a Revenant on the strongest mob around you can take their concentration off of you so you can deal with lesser stuff attacking you.

Vampiric Embrace gives you immunity to *I Think* all poisons but the highest. Cant use Garlic based spells (you can but you will get damaged) and it does soething to your resists too, cant remember what...

Summoning a Death Adder or Dire Wolf will let you tame any snake or wolf type creature as if they were 0 Taming Skill. Last I checked the Death Adder let you take a Yamandon, though they prolly fixed that...
