As outlined in our Terms of Service, we do not condone the abuse of bugs, scripting, exploiting of game mechanics, nor other forms of cheating. On average, we close approximately 100 accounts per month for violating the Terms of Service.

Recently, we discovered a large number of accounts that were using third-party programs to farm resources. We closed those accounts and removed the following resources from the game:
Raw Ore = 78,000,000 Stones

Gems = 189,000 Gems

Ingots (all types) = 266,400,000

Gold = 1,080,000,000
This activity is harmful to the gameplay of honest players and will not be tolerated. Any player found cheating will have action taken against their account. Our policies and methods for finding cheaters are constantly evolving, as the integrity of our service is of utmost importance to the UO Team.

even thought it make stuff cheap to buy, people shouldn't have that much cash so easily

I'd imagine it's down to scriptors and dupers
There's rumours the character transfer is down DUE to a dupe, but who knows, it's just a rumour

I don't have a problem with people who use the "naughty" script program, as it does have its GOOD uses, like making repetitive tasks easier, bit like UOAssist, but because it's just a program which reads scripts, it's open to abuse by those who have knowledge of scripting.
Hence you get fully automated money makers, ranging from gold farming pvm scripts, to automated mining scripts.

I am not totally against scripting, for repetitive tasks like turning cotton to thread into bolts of cloth...but, once you start crafting and selling you should be the one doing it. My script is the F4 button, last object or F5 button last object/last target.

ya i knew about scripting but to make 16 billion gold off val ingots or frost wood just seems crazy to me.

I guess when ur selling duped blue shrounds of shadows for 40m - 100m or whatever their at the gold would add up pretty quick.

That is just crazy... I use UOAssist to run through repetitive task when in heartwood.. but I am right there and it only runs 50 at a click... so I am clicking lots as far as scripting programs chopping wood and getting ingots.. that is uncalled for EA 4tw.. i haven't seen my neighbor scripter at the frostwood tree in front of my house in quite some time... not sure if it was the reds killing him off or EA snagging them... but I am a happy person now

Yes.. no one mentions those much.. but the lumberjacking those FEW Frostwood, Bloodwood and Heartwood trees was pretty apparent too. I would make my rounds and inevitably one would show up.. blink.. he's there.. blink, he's gone.... and there were always 500 or more normal logs on the ground beside the trees. I haven't been logging since this scripter catching thing happened, so I don't know.. but it would be really nice if it were only REAL people popping in to chop them.

Haven't had time to play much since this happened either, but the last time I did all the frostwood trees I have marked actually had wood in them again... could be coincidence but nevertheless, nice.

I don't even use UOA so all the mining, lumbering, crafting and questing is done 100% by hand... last object/last target macros being the most advanced gimmick in my arsenal

F1 and F2.... First and only Macros I made. Son showed me to do it when he gave me the account 4 years ago... sometimes hand gets tired.. lol.. but I still do it that way any how.

Well I'm pretty sure this is the reason there's a 30 minute delay on character transfers now..



No matter what anybody does, somebody will always be there to take advantage of an unforseen bug. Take a look at the lockpicking trick on Satryr's for example.
