Re: How can anyone stand posting on Stratics Uhall?

I don't get it though, why do they allow it?

I also don't get why mods there see the need to lock a thread, but reply beforehand with a sarcastic comment to belittle the posters?

I know dealing with an out of control thread can be abit stressful, but I try and lock a thread without making sarcastic or rude remark.

Re: How can anyone stand posting on Stratics Uhall?

There are a few mods that I really liked there, but there were also a few that I didnt find all that appealing.

When they have to sticky specific complaint threads that have been readily recognized by the EA staff people, there is a problem...

Because UOForums favoritism favors you, and Stratics favoritism is against Deimos?

UOForums has the exact same problems Stratics has, they are just on a much smaller scale - that is why I say UOForums would be the same as Stratics if there were more users.
The reason for the "bad" moderation on Stratics? Mostly because there are very few moderators and admins per user on Stratics compared to how many there are on UOForums. This could work to Stratics' advantage if more people used the tools available to them. Almost all of the posts I see people complain about on Stratics nobody reports. There's a nice button at the bottom of each post there - it says "report to moderators". Click it, and you can know the moderators will check it. If somebody has already reported it, it will tell you when you report it. The rest of the posts I see that are bad? Usually deleted or locked before I can reply or report.
The reason for the "favoritism" on Stratics? Because a dedicated moderator that will show bias for/against 10 people out of every 100 is much better than no moderator or a moderator that might check the forums once a day. Why is that their choice? Because very few people are willing to volunteer to moderate there.

Like what? we don't have any problems to my knowledge.

That's the problem though
If you report a post, the same poster continues to break the rules over and over regardless of the number of times he or she is reported
I don't agree that a mod be biased against anyone, it makes it unfair
To be honest though, it's EA's fault for shoving the title of "Official" boards onto stratics
Personally I find it rather disagreeable that they'd let a volunteer site like stratics host their boards, I think it says alot about what EA's corporate bodies think of UO.

All their other games have their own EA messageboards to my knowledge.

Re: How can anyone stand posting on Stratics Uhall?

Official does seem a "heavy' word. Why not just have the designation be 'An Official", which allows for more than one site?

Re: How can anyone stand posting on Stratics Uhall?

i would love to know who we show favortism to... there have been quite a few people ive wanted to ban.. yet i didn't, there have been a few people i liked that i had to warn as well... please tell me where we are showing favoritism.. is it because we like our posters and encourage them to post?? im a lil confused here, but if you can show me where this is occuring i will correct it.

and unlike stratics our mods check the boards a lot more than once a day. maybe its just because we have a more dedicated staff

I've never figured out how to be gracefully humble without appearing weak.

Nor have I figured out how to be gracefully passionate without appearing arrogant.

In the end, I always seem to be arrogant and weak instead of humbly passionate.

Re: How can anyone stand posting on Stratics Uhall?

I am sure the sheer volume at Stratics is daunting for moderators and it is bound to be a thankless and tedious job. Actually, aside from us posting that we prefer to post here because the atmosphere is more friendly, I see no reason to comment further on how Stratics Boards are run or what is on them. We have more interesting things to talk about

Indeed! You comes to the underdog's rescue pretty often Sahra...

While most of the time the points are layed out well without evidence of much negativity, I sometimes see a more jaded side that makes me wonder if that sleep schedule is finally catching up with you?!?!

From what I have seen of Sahras actions and views, they are typically well founded *and intelligently so* though sometimes bound by the brashness of youth. Perhaps I simply share that Northeasterners pessimism, but I must say that I have never had a bone nor a nose to pick with Sahra and hope I never will, lest I might lose a match of wits! An occurance not very common, I might add...

As far as the UHall *bolded because we're not talking Stratics as a whole here* goes, its has become a place to gripe about anything and everything to so with the game. As such, becomes a place for any and all to some and complain which is very good for the Devs to see what issues are most noticed/needed, but very bad for issues that would add to gameplay for all that dont follow the UHall majority's line of thought.

As previously stated by the very enlightened Snowy, we do have more important matters to think about, so lets let the sadly unappreciated mods of UHall worry about these the problems...

P.S. Im not defending you Sahra (I know better...you can take care of yoursef in most any situation, if not all!), Im simply lending my insight through interaction here and Stratics to the good peoples of UOF!
