Lately I've been locking in game and lagging really bad. Is anyone else having a problem? I usually have a great connection, but lately its been horrible! Any ideas on how to figure out if its UO or my DSL & things to fix it?

Another problem I am having -

The other night I recalled home and coudln't get onto my steps! It was as if my house was private & I was not a friend. Eventually I was able to get. I paged a GM but of course no help because I was able to get in the house. Now tonight... I'm having problems with one teleporter in the house, where I get on the telporter but can not get off. Eventually it lets me off I bounce around the house a few times, then it will not let me on!

Have you UOTrace? This is a great tool for diagnosing and connection related problems...

Once you have it on your puter, run the program and when it asks you about retrieving the server list, tell it no.

When it first comes up, it will be a very small box. First, click on Options and then click on Advanced under that. Then in the little box, type "shardname.owo.com" where shard name is....you guessed it, the name of your shard!

Now click "ping" and then "poll" and wait about 30-40 seconds and see what the numbers look like. The Ping Time and Ping Avg should be under 100 with good DSL line and the "%loss" should always be 0 or at least 2 or under.

Let me know how you fare with that test and we'll go from there

I have some lag when running UO, nothing major but it does give me an excuse to explore azeroth.

Kettle I don't know what i'm doing wrong. I typed Lake Austin & gave me a DNS error. Then I tried to update the server & gave me a general socket error.

I have a feeling its this Norton Antivirus...........but I installed it a few months ago & everything was running ok. Just the past week or so it's been horrible. I got punted from UO 3 times last night and that is a first in a long time.

Did you type it lakeaustin.owo.com ? I Think if you use www, it doesnt like it.

Try a few other shards too, just to make sure that the program itself is working...

I lost connection about 1500000000000000 times today... I think its my DSL...or my modem or router.
Does anyone know the life span of a router?

Another thing is the filters taht you put on the phone lines when you run DSL. Might be worth replacing them depending on how many you jhave and how much they cost....

The Router is probably 2 years old, I think. I have extra filters too. I will try that and rebooting the modem & Router again. Its gone from really bad lag to connection loss. Then I saw Trillian was going out... so it has to be one of those..

Are you on wireless? Also are you having problems doing anything else on the internet? If you are, then it's probably not UO, but your connection.
