Well, sheesh, what's a game company gotta do? If nothing else, UO should have gotten a top 5 nod for being the first true massively multiplayer online game, as well as being the one that demonstrated that a monthly billing system for a game could work.
I mean, UO is the one that started all this MMOG business in a serious way. I'm also not so sure the writer knows what he's talking about, seeing his comment that EQ was the first MMOG that "required social interaction during play". He obviously wasn't around in the pre-Trammel days, with enough forced social interaction to make one throw the mouse across the room. Oh well, a mention's better than nothing, I suppose.

Hehe, I'm sure Final Fantasy was up there, if not number one. As for the whole MMORPG, I think Gemstone started it all, not UO. Even though it was text based, it came along years before UO did. As I recall Diablo was the first successful online game that wasn't massive persay, but the ability to control a unit, keep him, advance him, and such was a first in Diablo. Diablo was the only reason I started UO because through screenshots they looked quite similar.
