Help with returning to UO

Just a pre-note (I previously owned Mondain's Legacy, no longer have the CD-Key)

Hey some of you may remember me from a few years back, I am/was True Strike on the Europa Shard.

I've longed to return to Britannia and after reactivating my account today I was prompted with a requirement for an upgrade code which I unfortunately never had. I inserted a Free 14-Day Trial Code and when patched and ready to play I logged in and found all my characters on the Europa Shard... missing.

Any help/ideas would be much appreciated

Many Thanks

Re: Help with returning to UO

Welcome to UOForums

Ugh that sucks about the characters, you sure you're on the right account?
I didn't think they'd done a character wipe for vet characters

The account itself was only about 8 months old, would they remove chars for that length of time?

Re: Help with returning to UO

Hrm, the only info I could find on UO's support pages, was

Quote:
Currently we do not delete characters in Ultima Online based on age or inactivity. However, character data does take up a great deal of space on the servers, and many players have multiple characters that they do not play (characters made for one-time events, made during their regular shard downtime, etc.). In the event of low disk space, we may delete unused characters, which are defined as any character that has not been logged in for 6 months, and has 350 or fewer total skill points. This system may be activated at any time if it becomes necessary (i.e. when the available disk space on a shard becomes low). Since it will only be activated in the event of low disk space, it may not be activated on all shards at once. Remember - although inactive characters are not deleted at this time, it's always smart to make sure your favorite characters are refreshed at least every few months! Once this system is turned on, it will be a permanent addition to the game.

Thanks Adam appreciate it, I've just sent an email to EA contacting them of this, if so, hopefully they would reactivate but since I had a GM Sworder with all skills maxxed out, it is more than the 350 skill point margin mentioned.

Much appreciated

Re: Help with returning to UO

I wondered about that, but thought maybe he meant a RTB code...

Re: Help with returning to UO

You might want to edit your user account name out of your post - it's unchangeable and can help make you an easier hacking target! Keep that username (along with your password) private if possible.

I didn't think it was possible to use a free trial code on an existing account. Did you ever have more than one account? I don't think they delete characters (a friend of mine just reactivated his account, which has been dormant since 2002, and all of his characters were still there). You might want to call customer support and talk to them. My friend spent a couple days back and forth on the phone with them, trying to verify his identity and whatnot, but it was worth the effort in not having to re-train all of his characters.

Good luck!
