is it true that you can be like a shop owner and just forge and blacksmith..etc? That will level you up in a scense? If that is true, how are the crafted items real people make compared to what you find off mobs?

Yes you can just be a shop owner and blacksmith. There are no levels.

Lets use your example of a blacksmith. Any character can be a blacksmith. They need to choose the skill when starting a new character (you can choose 3 starting skills) or you can being training any skill, anytime on any character.

Remember though you can only have 700 total skill points, or 7 skill at 100 points each (grandmaster). Once you hit 100 in any skill, it will be reflected on your paperdoll. If you did it with blacksmithing, it would be seen as YOURCHARACTER, Grandmaster Blacksmith.

Again keeping it simple.
Each skill ranges from 0 to 100 and by using the skill, your skill in that skill increases, For example a new blacksmith would make like daggers at 10 skill, then as your skill increases you can try to make like broadswords, battle axes etc.

crafted items for the most part suck compared to what you can get off mobs, but there are some artifact type weapons that different skills can make if you have to right components. Also to use blacksmithing again, if you have a blacksmith character, he will be able to repair your other characters armors/weapons. If you do not have a blacksmith, you will either have to trust someone else with your items (and they do not have to give them back) or you have to purchase repair deeds from other players to repair your items.

There are also blacksmith bulk order deeds, where your blacksmith gets an order to fill from an npc blacksmith which you turn in for gold and other items. So you can just make gold with a blacksmith alone, its boring at least to me but you can do it.

Hmm... I don't agree with the crafter items being crap compared to mob drops. Runic items are the best items in the game. Even most artifacts can't compare to what you can get crafted.

Putting artifacts aside, nothing that I have killed, including paragon GDs, paragon Lords of the Abyss and Paragon Slayers have come even close to having armor as powerful as the runic stuff. Nor have I ever found a weapon that compares to most runic weapons.

In general, I think crafted items are far superior to stuff you find. Except for jewelry.

If you are a beginning crafter? Just starting out? Your stuff sucks. Compared to what you can get from monster loot, if you have a high luck suit? Boosted with the 10th anniversary sculpture? I kept it simple for the other poster, Just how many runics is a new player going to have access too? Heck I have been doing bods since they started and highest hammer I have ever got was golden. Now I do not run a bod account. I just do a hundred a week or so. I have several larges for val hammers just have not been able to fill them.

Re: Hello everyone. Some stuff I am curious about.

Thanks for all the help so far guys! Now, another question. When I start to select a character. The lil premades, i went necromancer. Are those premade ones any less effective than ones you custom make? I dont know the dept of the customization, havent looked through it yet. I just made the necro and went to it. Went to Catskills shard as mentioned by Mathena, and i met some people from the GRI guild and they helped me out nicely. Answered every question I had. But yea, how different can the customized class's be than the premade ones?

Re: Hello everyone. Some stuff I am curious about.

Well premade ones get you off to a good start.

But I like to make my own. Just make sure you start them with skills under 50. Why? Because there are all those quests in new haven, that if you take them once you hit 50, you get a items (on the necro quest the reward is a full necro spellbook) which for a starting player are not that bad. They are helpful until you start to make a decent amount of gold and you can afford to upgrade your suit/weapons.

Re: Hello everyone. Some stuff I am curious about.

After my last post, i thought of another thing to ask. Aside from the lowere lvl of skills, does it really matter though of how it starts out? Cause from what I understand so far, you can even unlearn(?) things and just relocate those skill points. Right?

Re: Hello everyone. Some stuff I am curious about.

Once you get your skill total of points up to 700, you can unlearn something. There are little icons next to each skill. The skills you want to keep, have the icon set to the arrow up. The skills you want to lose, set the arrow down. Once a skill gets to where you want it, you can set it from an arrow to the little lock to lock the point value.

Also, the older your account, the more skill points you will get. Your skill cap will raise every year by five points, until you reach the cap of 720.
