Trying t post this for the second time, my first post didn't seem to come up!

Anyway i've tried playing UO for the first time and when patching I get:

Starting patch session...
Transferring patch information
Downloading patch uose_win32_5-0-1d.rtp( 1180866 bytes )
Downloading patch uose_win32_5-0-1d.pat( 11 bytes )
Applying patch patch\uose_win32_5-0-1d.rtp
Error applying patch
Error during session
Your client may not be the most recent version.
You may be able to play the game with your current client.
Check http:\www.uo.com for help on resolving patching issues.
Click OK to play the game or Cancel to abort.

Any ideas people?

The first thing to do is clean out your patch directory before you attempt to patch again. Go to your UO directory's patch folder and delete everything in ti (default should be C:\Program Files\EAGames\UltimaOnline\patch or close to it, Im at work and cant check) then open the client again and try to patch.

If you are still having problems, the next step is is totally uninstalling and reinstalling and see if that helps.

If you are still having problems, post up with what client you are running, what OS you have, and what type of internet connection (cable, DSL, satellite, etc.)
