Haven't played UO since pre AoS... have some questions.

I just started playing again. Seems like everything has been improved from my time. Looking to get into pvp.

1. Is it viable to drop resisting spells, and get resists on your gear? I was looking at how resist spells works, and it gives 40 to all resistances at GM level. But the 40 doesnt stack with any resistance from gear. once you get over 40% from gear, it just replaces it. So i dont see why not. Spells that directly check your skill resist spells and compare it to say, necromancy or eval, would be more damaging on you. from what i see.

2. I saw that necromancers can tame all wolves as if they require 0 taming. does this include the 101 taming wolf that heals it self? because that would be sick imho.

3. Is it a huge bonus getting a skill above 100? Seems to me like it would be better to have another gm skill.

Lastly, the build I'm working right now is:

Magery
Eval
Focus
Chivalry
Fencing
Tactics
Parry

Or possibly switching out parry/focus for meditation.
I just figured hybrids will have less INT which makes meditation less effective. Id get like 1.3mana regen per second with med, and with focus i can get +10 to 10 second health regen and +5 to 10 second mana regain. Or maybe just throw in some mana steal. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks everyone!!

Resists from armor is always necessary, Resisting Spells has more of an effect than just (40 at GM, 44 at Legendary) armor resist alone. Resisting spells shortens durations from certain spells, lessens effects (weaken, feeble mind, curse, PARALYZE, etc.) of some, and can completely block you from getting (magically) poisoned.

All depends on which skill, what/how much you use it.

Most mage/warrior builds are tough and extremely item dependant (also meaning having to spend a buttload of gold) and I wouldn't suggest it being a 1st build coming back into the game, but if you must I would suggest...

115 Magery (120 just costs too much)
100 Eval
100 MEDITATION
65 Chivalry
115 Fencing (120 if you have more than 700 max skill points)
90 Tactics
115 Parry (120 if you have more than 705 max skill points)

Str - 100 (after items)
Dex - 80 (after items)
Int - 100 (after items)

Focus is a dieing skill, it's uses for SR and MR are negated by MR items and Chiv spell Divine Fury.

I think DiP actually meant something like "offset" rather than negated. The MR items will give you mana regen, negating the little you get from focus. Divine Fury will instantly restore your stamina to full level. Both work to negate the need for focus. To me, focus is one of the most useless game skills.

When ML first came out you could do that, but they fixed that so nope not anymore.

Focus is the most useless skill in the game? Over...um...item identification?

And what about forensic evaluation...do we still have that skill?

(j/k, btw - I understand and concur with your opinion of focus being of no value)
