Haven't crashed since the 6/22 patch

Some good news.... I typically crash in KR once every half hour or so, even as recently as this morning.

This evening, after today's patch, I played for a good 3 hours straight or so... and did not crash one single time.

I'm not even sure what to do with this experience

I'm hugely encouraged by the tweaks that came through in today's patch. Dare I say KR is near playable? I've logged probably 6 hours or so of actual playtime on my tamer in KR this week. Still sending in a few bug reports every time I play, but I am seeing progress.

I'm even starting to enjoy using the KR user interface. Yowza!

Re: Haven't crashed since the 6/22 patch

Talking of the UI I wish they'd allow us to resize the Chat/system box smaller than it's default size or better yet allow us to have the option to have the method the 2d client relays information of skill gains and actions etc without having a box and instead just have the text scroll on the bottom left of the screen. I'd be happy though if they'd just allow use to make that box smaller than its default size. I can't even see why they bothered to allow us to make it bigger when the problem is it’s big already.

As for crashing I had a 20 min play time going around banks and didn't get a crash like I would before this last patch but, I did get the windows has encountered an error when you log out. I’ve had this issue every now and then when logging out since 3 patches ago so nothing changed there.

I agree completely. I was a major 'crasher' prior to the latest patch and haven't crashed yet. I went ahead and stealthed into some fairly dangerous areas to take advantage of the lack of crashing and got some cool screenies for myself and shared a few as well. I'm enjoying the changes they're making and I am noticing their hard work. I hope they continue to work on the lag though... as that is still a bit of an issue for me.

I know I could always upgrade my computer to better enjoy the game, but I really shouldn't HAVE to in all honesty.

The chat boxes are resizable, and you can break apart the chat and system boxes if you want. Resize using the little triangle-ish icon at the bottom right hand corner of the chat box.

Update - played for a couple more hours this morning. Still haven't crashed. w00t!

Running KR (windowed mode) and ICQ. They seem to have issues...didn't crash KR but did crash icq. So shut everything down and rebooted .

hmmm I'm not sure on that one - I don't use ICQ's software. I use Trillian instead (so I can have all of my IM's in one interface).

Yes I've had a go at that tweak but, both boxes end up being nearly as big side by side as the original xml layout. They really need to allow you to adjust the main box smaller than its default size. The last thing you need is more box’s on screen when simply allowing you to adjust the default box smaller like you can in other MMO’s the UI trying to impersonate is far better option.

Too many boxes - I'm completely confused as to what you mean

Do you have the flexible desktop enabled, so that you can resize the play area?

Here's how I set mine up -

User Settings - Graphics Tab

My windowed and full screen resolutions are set to match my monitor's settings. (If you want to be able to see your Windows taskbar at all times, then set your windowed resolution to be lower than your monitor's resolution - BUT be sure to not use fullscreen mode, and choose a resolution with the same aspect ratio of your monitor's resolution [multiples of 4:3 or 16:9 depending on your type of monitor - see your monitor's documentation if you're not sure which to use]). I personally don't care to see my Windows taskbar at all times, since I can just hit the Windows key on my keyboard at any time to show the taskbar. I'd rather have the screen real estate dedicated to KR.

CHECK the "Show Frame" option.

UNCHECK "Use Fullscreen" option.

CHECK the "Flexible Desktop" option.

Side note - be sure that you have the Windows display resolution set to match the native resolution of your monitor if you have an LCD. (Your monitor's documentation should tell you the native resolution it expects - or in the case of my monitor, it pops up a message whenever I set it to a resolution that is NOT the native resolution).

In my case, my old video card did not support the native resolution of my newer monitor. I figured, well it's close enough... turns out, things looked a lot more blurry than they should have. I upgraded my video card to support my monitor's native resolution, and now not only is KR more crisp and clear, but everything is more crisp - text, web browsing, etc.

Using the proper resolution settings in Windows and in KR is very important in terms of the clarity of the picture you'll see.
